Adairsville sweeps doubleheader to win battle of Tigers


In a battle of Tigers Saturday at Adairsville, the local Tigers swept visiting Temple 11-4 and 7-2 in a baseball doubleheader.

In the opener, the Adairsville offense exploded for eleven runs on ten hits in an 11-4 victory. Meanwhile, three Adairsville pitchers — Wade Conduff, Jacob Ray, and Wade Dooley — combined to limit Temple to only a pair of earned runs on four hits. The trio combined for 11 strikeouts. Wade Dooley, who worked the final three and one-third innings was credited with the win. Evan Sanders had three hits and one RBI for Adairsville. Tyler Driggers followed with a pair of hits and one RBI. Eli Agnew finished with a pair of RBI and had one hit. Chris Roper doubled while Logan Hunt, Conduff, and Elijah Padgett (RBI) added one hit apiece. Adairsville stole eleven bases in the win. Driggers swiped four and Hunt stole three bases. In Adairsville’s 7-2 second game win, Gunner Millsap (4 IP, 1ER, 4H, 3BB, 8K) earned the pitching victory and accumulated eight strikeouts. Grayson Belcher (3 IP, 1R, 0ER, 2H, 3BB, 5K) worked the final three frames and was credited with a save.

Adairsville led 3-1 through three innings before Temple (1-2) cut the lead to 3-2 in the fifth. Adairsville then secured the victory with a four-run sixth inning.

Jacob Ray had two hits for Adairsville including a solo home run. Wade Conduff (RBI) and Elijah Padgett both added two hits. Logan Hunt finished with a pair of RBIs and a double. Chris Roper contributed a hit and Tyler Driggers drove in one run.

Adairsville (2-1) plays at Darlington Thursday at 4:30 p.m. and will host Armuchee Friday at 5 p.m.
