Adairsville volleyball sweeps a pair of matches on senior night; Woodland splits home matches

The Adairsville volleyball team swept a pair of home matches Thursday night defeating Gordon Central 25-11, 25-19 and Rockmart 25-22, 25-16 as the Tigers celebrated their seniors.


Addie Pearson paced Adairsville in the opening win over the Warriors with seven aces, seven assists, and seven digs. Sherry Wells contributed nine digs and Jordan Hartline added six kills.

In the win over Rockmart, Pearson totaled 11 assists, four aces, three kills, and three digs. Jayna Wilson finished with nine digs and Hartline compiled nine kills.


Adairsville (5-11, 0-1) will open play Saturday in the Bartow County Championship Tournament against host Woodland at 1 p.m.




WOODLAND SPLITS HOME MATCHES THURSDAY

The Lady Cats split matches Thursday night at home with a win over Temple and a narrow loss to South Paulding.


Temple won the opening set against Woodland 25-15, but the Wildcats responded with a 25-21 second set win and a 15-8 decision in the final set.


South Paulding won 31-29 in the opening set and finished off the match in the second set, 25-19.


“We played hard all night,” said Woodland coach David Condon. “I’m pleased with the effort. We need to bring that same effort level to the Bartow County Tournament we host on Saturday.”


Kendall Condon had 26 assists on the night to go with 20 digs, five aces, and five kills. Anastyn Jones finished with 11 kills and 11 digs. Bailee Motes contributed six kills and eight digs. Megan Schultz had 10 kills. Lili Womack had six digs, and Kiera Pedigo added five blocks.


Woodland (6-17, 0-2) opens Saturday’s tournament at home against Adairsville.


Cartersville (17-9) plays Cass (4-19-1) in the other first round match.
