Adairsville sweeps region opponents; Cass, Cartersville, and Woodland split matches
The Adairsville volleyball team won a pair of Region 6-AAA matches Thursday night at home defeating Murray County in three sets and Ringgold in straight sets.
The Tigers won the opening set over Murray County 25-18, but the Indians took the second set 25-21. In the deciding set, Adairsville prevailed 15-9.
In the nightcap, the Adairsville won 25-16 and 25-23 to defeat Ringgold.
“It was a great night for Adairsville volleyball,” said Lady Tigers coach Kaylie Vaughn Martin. “These girls are consistently showing improvement, they are training hard, and their work is reaping benefits. I couldn’t be more proud.”
Lexie Childers had nine digs, seven assists, four kills and two aces in the win over Murray County. Kaylee Jordan contributed seven digs, six kills, and a pair of aces. Richlyn Blair added six kills and five digs.
In the win over Ringgold, Childers finished with five digs, three assists, two service aces and two kills. Blair totaled seven digs and four kills. Autumn Henderson collected two blocks, two assists, and two digs. Yatorrean Hale contributed a pair of blocks, Jordan added four kills while Bailey Weaver, Madison Flemons, and Annie McCormick combined for 28 digs.
Adairsville (15-5-1, 3-1) plays at Rockmart next Tuesday with the Tigers will face North Murray and the host Yellow Jackets.
BLESSED TRINITY TOPS CARTERSVILLE; CASS AND WOODLAND SPLIT REGION MATCHES
Region 7-AAAAA leading Blessed Trinity defeated Cartersville 25-20 and 25-9 Thursday night. The Hurricanes also had a 25-10, 25-15 victory over Cedartown at the Storm Center.
At Cass, the Lady Colonels fell to Calhoun 25-16 and 25-14, but defeated Woodland 25-16, 17-25, 15-13. Woodland had a win over Hiram 25-22 and 25-17.
