Adairsville wins at Cass, 6-2

Adairsville pitchers Brenden Carroll and Peyton Bowen combined to limit Cass to five hits and one earned run Thursday evening as the visiting Tigers beat the Colonels, 6-2.


Adairsville led 5-1 in the second inning and both teams added single runs in the fifth inning.


The Tigers out hit the Colonels ten to five.


Peyton Bowen paced the Adairsville offense with three hits including a double. Tyler Driggers had two hits and two RBIs. Chris Roper followed with a pair of hits including a double and one RBI. Brenden Carroll (2 RBIs), Braden Powell, and Grayson Belcher added one hit apiece. Dawson Craig had one RBI for the Tigers.


Bentley Markley had three of the Colonels’ five hits. Wesley Collins and Carson Hill added one hit each. Jesiel Moctezuma drove in a run for Cass with a fielder’s choice.


Carroll (5.1 IP, 2R, 1ER, 3H, 4BB, 4K) started on the mound for Adairsville and worked into the sixth inning. Bowen (1.2 IP, 0R, 2H, 1BB, 1K) retired the final five outs for the Tigers.


Cayden Roberts (2 IP, 4R, 1ER, 5H, 2BB) was tagged with the pitching loss for Cass. Conner Jenkins (3 IP, 1ER, 3H, 4K) and Hayden Cole (2 IP, 0R, 2H, 4K) pitched in relief for the Colonels.


Adairsville improved to 5-4 and is scheduled to host North Murray March 18.


Cass (1-10) will host Sonoraville Friday at 5:30 p.m.
