Andrew College powers past Chargers in series opener

Georgia Highlands baseball held a 5-1 lead in the middle of the third inning Tuesday at Andrew College in Cuthbert. However, the host Tigers exploded for 15 runs in their subsequent four offensive frames to power past the Chargers 16-8.
The bats of Andrew College delivered 20 hits, featuring 10 extra-base hits, with three being home runs.
Ryan Martin had two hits, including a homer for the Chargers. Andrew Bishop (two RBI) and Heath Whitlock also homered. Wyatt Gatlin (double), Grayson Godbee (double), and Tyler Phillips (sac fly, RBI) added one hit.
Six Chargers pitched in the loss, including starter Jack Butler (3 IP, 6ER, 9H, 0BB, 3K), Braxton Wade (1.2 IP, 5R, 3ER, 6H), Nickolaus Kane (0.1 IP, 0R, 0H, 1BB, 1K), Reece Robertson (1 IP, 5ER, 3H, 4BB, 1K), Brodie Chestnutt (1 IP, 0R, 0H, 1K), and William Homan (1 IP, 0R, 2H, 1K).
The Tigers improved to 22-9 overall and 4-3 in the GCAA.
Georgia Highlands (24-6, 5-3) will proceed with the week-long series against Andrew College, which will feature a single game on Friday at 6 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.
