MLB / MiLB


MASON BARNETT — Las Vegas Aviators (5th-yr. pro; Triple-A affiliate Sacramento Athletics; Auburn; Cartersville HS) … made his first start this season for the Aviators on Sunday, March 29, and earned a pitching win by going 5-⅔ innings. He allowed one earned run on five hits and two walks while striking out four. The lone run was a solo home run as Las Vegas beat the Salt Lake City Bees 6-1. This past Saturday in his second start, he went 4 innings with no decision in an eventual 8-5 home win over the Oklahoma City Comets. Barnett gave up four earned runs on seven hits and three walks. He fanned three. Las Vegas has a six-game series on Tuesday through Sunday at the Sacramento River Cats.


LOGAN MARTIN —  Richmond Flying Squirrels (4th-yr. pro; Double-A affiliate San Francisco Giants; Kentucky; Cartersville HS) … the right-hand pitcher begins the 2026 season in Double-A, but has not been called on through the first three games. The Flying Squirrels went 2-1 at the Erie SeaWolves. Richmond hosts a six-game series with the Altoona Curve on Tuesday through Sunday.


ANTHONY SEIGLER — Boston Red Sox (9th-yr. pro; Cartersville HS) … the 26-year-old has started the 2026 season on the 10-day injured list for the Red Sox.



SOFTBALL


KILEY ARNOLD — Shorter University (Jr., Cartersville HS) … went 1-for-5 at the plate in two games on April 1 at Erskine College as the Hawks lost 5-2 and 3-1. Shorter (11-30, 5-15 Conference Carolinas) hosts Emmanuel University (GA) for a doubleheader on Tuesday and visits Young Harris College for two games on Friday.


HAYLEE DISHMON — Berry College (Jr., Cass HS) … entered as a pinch runner in the Vikings’ 8-3 loss last Saturday to visiting Trinity University (TX). Berry (20-7, 5-4 Southern Athletic Association) dropped two of three games with Trinity, and will visit Centre College (KY) for a three-game conference series on Saturday and Sunday.


TAYLOR EVANS — Southern Wesleyan University (Fr., Adairsville HS) … went 0-for-1 with a walk and scored a run last Thursday in the Warriors’ 15-0 win at Erskine College (SC). SWU (25-11, 13-4 Conference Carolinas) welcomes Erskine for a doubleheader on Tuesday, entertains Ferrum College (VA) for two games on Friday, and visits Young Harris College for a doubleheader on Saturday.


ANSLEY HIGHT — Reinhardt University (Jr., Cass HS) … went 2-for-13 with one walk in four games last week as the Eagles split a home doubleheader with Truett McConnell University and swept two games at Columbia College (SC). Reinhardt (17-5, 13-3 Appalachian Athletic Conference) hosts Spartanburg Methodist College for two games on Wednesday.


ALYSSA JARRETT — Piedmont University (Jr., Adairsville HS) … made a home start last Friday and went 0-for-1 with one walk in a 2-0 win over Maryville College (TN). Piedmont (18-10, 7-3 Collegiate Conference) hosts a doubleheader with Johnson & Wales University (NC) on Wednesday before visiting Belhaven University (MS) on Saturday.


ERYN LEE — Reinhardt University (Sr., Cass HS) … went 2-for-6 with five walks, one double, one sacrifice fly, five runs scored, and two RBI as the Eagles went 3-1 last week against Truett McConnell University and Columbia College. Reinhardt (17-5, 13-3 Appalachian Athletic Conference) hosts Spartanburg Methodist College for two games on Wednesday.


RACHAEL LEE — Valdosta State University (Sr., Cass HS) … went 2-for-9 with one double, one walk, one run scored, and one RBI as the Blazers dropped two of three home games with Auburn University Montgomery. VSU (16-19, 10-11 Gulf South Conference) hosts two games with Georgia Southwestern State University on Tuesday beore visiting Lee University (TN) for three games on Friday and Saturday.


ALEXIS WOODS — Tennessee State University (Jr., Cass HS) … hit safely in all three home games against Lindenwood last Thursday and Friday, but the Tigers remain winless on the season. Woods was 3-for-9 in the games with two RBI, two stolen bases, one sacrifice fly, and two runs scored. TSU (0-27, 0-15 Ohio Valley Conference) plays three conference games at Morehead State University (KY) on Saturday and Sunday.



BASEBALL


CAMERON ADAMS — Shorter University (R-Fr., Excel Christian Academy) … started all four games for the Hawks last week as they went 1-3 with a loss at the University of Montevallo and dropped two of three home games with Erskine College (SC). Adams went 3-for-15 with his first two collegiate RBI. He also scored one run and stole one base. Shorter (12-22, 4-20 Conference Carolinas) hosts Morehouse College on Tuesday afternoon and welcomes Chowan University (NC) for three games on Friday and Saturday.


DREW BILLINGS — Trinity College of Jacksonville (Sr., Woodland HS) … made a ninth inning relief appearance and yielded one unearned run on one walk in a 14-6 home loss to Florida Memorial University on March 31. The Eagles (13-17, 6-3 NCCAA D2) play a three-game series at Toccoa Falls College on Friday and Saturday.


CALEB DANIEL — Georgia Tech (So., Cartersville HS) … went 2-for-8 last week, including a solo home run on March 31 at home against Auburn. He also scored two runs in his three starts — a win over Auburn and two wins at the University of California. The third-ranked Yellow Jackets (26-5, 12-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) welcome Kennesaw State University on Tuesday night and host Florida State University for three games on Thursday through Saturday.


MICAH EARWOOD — Southeastern University (Sr., Cartersville HS) … made relief appearances last Thursday and Saturday at Keiser University (FL). He struck out two of three batters faced in a scoreless eighth inning on Thursday in a 5-3 win. He pitched the seventh and eighth innings with no decision in the Fire’s 7-6 loss on Saturday. Earwood allowed one hit and hit one batter, but did not allow a run and struck out three in his time on the mound. Southeastern (27-11, 11-5 The Sun Conference) hosts four games with Ave Maria University (FL) on Thursday through Saturday.


ELLIOTT EASTIN — Covenant College (Jr., Cartersville HS) … went 2-for-12, including one double, one walk, and one run scored last Friday and Saturday as the Scots lost two of three home games with Belhaven University (MS). Covenant (11-17, 4-8 Collegiate Conference of the South) plays a three game series on Friday and Saturday at Piedmont University.


COLIN EATON — East Tennessee State University (Jr., Cartersville HS) … gave up one earned run on three walks and one hit batter in a ⅓-inning relief appearance last Thursday during a 13-7 loss at Samford University. The Buccaneers (21-8, 6-3 Southern Conference) visit Radford University (VA) on Tuesday evening and play a three game series at Belmont University (TN) on Friday and Saturday.


RYAN FARR — Kentucky Christian University (So., Adairsville HS) … made a late innings relief appearance and retired the final four outs of an 11-1 home win last Thursday over Brescia University (KY). Farr allowed no runs on one hit and one walk, while striking out two. The Knights (16-15, 7-10 River States Conference) has two games at Alice Lloyd College (KY) on Tuesday and visit Indiana University-Columbus for three games on Friday and Saturday.


DAVID JINKS — Bethany College (So., Excel Christian Academy) … entered as a pinch runner and scored a run in the Bison’s 14-4 win last Saturday over Hiram College (OH). Bethany (15-8, 5-3 Presidents’ Athletic Conference) visits Waynesburg University (PA) for a conference doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon and hosts Geneva College (PA) for two games on Saturday.


AIDAN LARKIN — Georgia Highlands College (Fr., Cartersville HS) … went 7-for-16, including four home runs, one double, three walks, eight runs scored, and seven RBI in a four-game home-and-home series last week with South Georgia State College. The Chargers won three games in the series, improving to 33-9 overall and 13-2 in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association. GHC has a four-game home-and-home series this week with Gordon State College.


HUNTER LOVETT — Oglethorpe University (Fr., Cass HS) … made relief appearances in three home games last Friday and Saturday as the Stormy Petrels won two of three over Millsaps College (MS). Lovett retired the only batter he faced in the seventh inning of a 6-4 win on Friday. He worked 2-⅔ scoreless innings with three strikeouts in an 11-6 loss on Friday, and he allowed two earned runs on one hit and one walk with one strikeout in a 10-7 win on Saturday. Oglethorpe (15-11, 6-3 Southern Athletic Association) hosts Huntingdon College (AL) on Tuesday before visiting Rhodes College (TN) for three conference games on Saturday and Sunday.


SAM MELTON — Guilford College (Sr., Cartersville HS) … went 0-for-2 on March 31 in a Quakers win at Southern Virginia University and made a defensive appearance at first base this past Saturday in an 11-1 home loss to Shenandoah University (VA). Guilford (12-15, 3-9 Old Dominion Athletic Conference) visits Methodist University (NC) on Tuesday, Johnson & Wales University (NC) on Wednesday, and plays a doubleheader at Bridgewater College on Saturday.


LUKE MILLER — Columbus State (So., Cartersville HS) … started two of three games last weekend at Middle Georgia State University and went 2-for-6 with two walks. The Cougars lost last Thursday, but won on Friday and Saturday. CSU (23-11, 15-6 Peach Belt Conference) welcome the 12th-ranked University of West Florida for non-conference games on Tuesday and Wednesday before visiting the 20th-ranked University of North Georgia for a three-game series on Friday through Sunday.


JACK NELSON — Wabash Valley College (Fr., Adairsville HS) … made a seventh-inning relief appearance on March 31 at Vincennes University, allowing two earned runs on two hits and two walks. He fanned two as the Warriors won 14-4. Wabash Valley (29-11, 11-4 Great Rivers Athletic Conference) visits John A. Logan College on Tuesday and plays a three-game, home-and-home series with Southwestern Illinois College on Thursday and Saturday.


AYDEN RAY — USC Lancaster (So., Woodland HS) … started two of three home games with Florence-Darlington Tech last Friday and Saturday. He went 3-for-8 with a solo home run and one double, but the Lancers went 0-3 in the series. USC Lancaster (20-19, 7-13 NJCAA Region 10) plays a three-game series at USC Sumter on Saturday and Sunday.


DREW ROTHSCHILD — Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (Sr., Cartersville HS) … in one start at Georgia Gwinnett College and three at the University of Mobile (AL) last week he went 2-for-14, including one home run, one double, two walks, three runs scored, and four RBI. The Stallions dropped three of four games with the win coming in the first game at Mobile. ABAC (26-14, 11-6 Southern States Athletic Conference) hosts Point University (GA) for three games on Friday and Saturday.


LOGAN SHREWSBURY — Columbus State University (Fr., Cartersville HS) … entered in relief in the fourth innings and worked 2-⅔ innings in an 8-3 loss last Thursday at Middle Georgia State. He allowed one earned run on one hit and two hit batters. The Cougars (23-11, 15-6 Peach Belt Conference) host the University of West Florida on Tuesday and Wednesday before a weekend trip to the University of North Georgia for three games on Friday through Sunday.


HANK SMITH — University of West Georgia (R-Jr., Cartersville HS) … made a home start last Friday and went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer and one walk as the Wolves defeated Florida Gulf Coast University 9-6. West Georgia (10-22, 7-5 Atlantic Sun Conference) visits Mercer University on Tuesday night and welcomes the University of North Florida for three games on Friday through Sunday.


DAVIS WILLIAMS — University of West Georgia (R-Jr., Cartersville HS) … made relief appearances in both of the Wolves’ home wins last weekend over Florida Gulf Coast University.  He entered in the seventh inning and worked 1-⅔ scoreless innings with one strikeout in Thursday’s 9-4 victory. He also allowed one hit and one walk, but pitched a scoreless sixth inning in Friday’s 9-6 win. UWG (10-22, 7-5 Atlantic Sun Conference) plays at Mercer University on Tuesday night before hosting the University of North Florida for three games this weekend.


SAWYER WILSON — Columbus State University (So., Cartersville HS) … was the losing pitcher last Thursday in a 3-⅓ innings start at Middle Georgia State University. He was touched for six runs (four earned) on eight hits, one walk, and one hit batter in an 8-3 loss. The Cougars (23-11, 15-6 Peach Belt Conference) host the University of West Florida on Tuesday and Wednesday before a weekend trip to the University of North Georgia for three games on Friday through Sunday.



BEACH VOLLEYBALL


LAUREN LAWSON — University of South Carolina (Jr., Cartersville HS) … won a Flight 3 match with partner Brooke Balue 21-19, 16-21, 15-12, but the Gamecocks lost to Arizona 3-2 last Friday at Bear Down Beach in Tucson. In USC’s 3-2 win over Hawaii, she paired with Evie Ziffer to win 15-21, 26-24, 15-9 in a Flight 3 match. That same duo also won 21-19, 21-17 in Flight 3, 4-1 over Florida Gulf Coast University. The 18th-ranked Gamecocks host Stetson University on Saturday at 9 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. in Columbia.


LONDON MOULTRIE — Wingate University (Sr., Cartersville HS) … in matches played last week at Erskine College, Moultrie and partner Amelia Talbott had two wins and three losses. They won a Flight 3 match in a 4-1 team win over Emmanuel University, and had a Flight 2 win in a 4-1 team loss to Tusculum University. The duo also suffered losses, including to Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, and Carson-Newman University. The South Atlantic Conference Tournament is in Greenville, Tennessee, on Friday and Saturday.



TENNIS


EMILY BUSH — University of North Georgia (Sr., Cartersville HS) … won her Line 3 singles match 6-3, 6-4, and took a 6-4 decision at Line 2 doubles with partner Linn Goerdes as the 13th-ranked Nighthawks blanked Georgia College last Thursday. UNG (12-5) hosts Lander University on Thursday.


SYDNEY COPPOLA — Berry College (So., Cass HS) … lost a Line 3 doubles match last Friday with partner Charlee Eidson and lost her Line 6 singles match in a 0-7 team loss at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. The duo also lost on Saturday, and Coppola had her Line 6 singles match halted in a 0-4 loss at Southwestern University (TX). Berry hosts the University of the South-Sewanee on Saturday at the Rome Tennis Center.



TRACK AND FIELD


BEN ABERNATHY — Reinhardt University (Fr., Adairsville HS) … placed 8th (21’2”) in the long jump at the Emory University Dooley Elite Meet this past Saturday in Atlanta. The Eagles will participate in the Berry Field Day on Thursday through Saturday.


JUNE DELAUDER — Reinhardt University (So., Cass HS) … ran 9th (16.78) in the 100-hurdles and was 16th (1:20.700 in the 400-meter hurdles this past Saturday at the Emory University Dooley Elite Meet. Next for Reinhardt is the Berry Field Day on Thursday through Saturday.


ANDY FORSYTH — Berry College (So., Woodland HS) … finished 6th (1:54.10) in the 800-meters this past Saturday at the Emory University Dooley Elite Meet. The Vikings host Berry Field Day on Thursday through Saturday.


TYLER JONES — University of West Georgia (So., Woodland HS) … placed seventh (16:25.60) in the 5000-meter run this past Friday and Saturday as the Wolves hosted the UWG Legends Invitational. Next for West Georgia is the UNC-Asheville Bulldog Invitational in North Carolina on Friday and Saturday.


WILL PARKER — Columbia College (Fr., Woodland HS) … finished 29th (11:35.96) in the 3000-meter steeplechase last week at the High Point University (NC) VertKlasse Meeting. The Koalas compete this weekend at the Francis Marion Invitational in Florence, South Carolina.


KENDRICK PRICE — Troy University (So., Cartersville HS) … placed 10th (10.88) in the 100-meter dash. Next for the Trojans is the Dick Roberts Seminole Invitational at Florida State on Friday and Saturday.


BARRETT STEPP — Augusta University (Fr., Cartersville HS) … placed 13th (2:06.22) in the 800-meters this past weekend at the Anderson University (SC) Electric City Invitational. Augusta competes on Friday at the Lee Flames Invitational in Cleveland, Tennessee.


DANIELLE THAYER — Augusta University (Jr., Woodland HS) … finished fifth (12:24.68) in the 3000-meter steeplechase this past weekend at the Anderson University (SC) Electric City Invitational. The Jaguars visit Cleveland, Tennessee, for the Lee Flames Invitational on Friday.
