A busy week in sports saw over 36 local athletes participating nationwide at both the professional and collegiate levels, as noted in this report for the week ending March 15.

MLB / MiLB
MASON BARNETT — Las Vegas Aviators (Oakland Athletics Triple-A affiliate; 5th year pro; Auburn; Cartersville HS) … was optioned to the Triple-A Las Vegas Aviators this past week and will not be on the Athletics’ opening day roster. The Las Vegas season begins March 27 against Salt Lake City.
LOGAN MARTIN — Eugene Emeralds (San Francisco Giants High-A affiliate; 4th year pro; Kentucky; Cartersville HS) … is scheduled to begin the 2026 season with the Eugene Emeralds. Their season begins April 3 at home against the Hillsboro Hops.
ANTHONY SEIGLER — Boston Red Sox (9th yr. pro; Cartersville HS) … was one of 20 players signed to a one-year contract by the Boston Red Sox last week. With all the agreements, the entire Red Sox roster is now under contract for the 2026 season. The 26-year-old will wear jersey number 48. Boston opens the 2026 regular season at home on April 3 against the San Diego Padres.
BASEBALL
CAMERON ADAMS — Shorter University (Fr., Excel Christian Academy) … entered as a pinch runner and later had an at-bat this past Saturday in a 6-5 home loss to Emmanuel University (GA). The Hawks (10-13, 2-13 Conference Carolinas) welcome Auburn University Montgomery on Tuesday and play a three-game conference series at Ferrum College (VA) on Friday and Saturday.
CURT BONNER — LaGrange College (Sr., Cartersville HS) … made four starts last week and went 8-for-19 as the Panthers won at Berry, but lost three games at Huntingdon College (AL). Bonner had two doubles, two walks, one hit by pitch, scored six runs, and had one stolen base during the week. LaGrange (11-9, 0-3 Collegiate Conference of the South) hosts Berry College on Tuesday and welcomes Asbury University (KY) for three games on Saturday and Sunday.
CALEB DANIEL — Georgia Tech (So., Cartersville HS) … homered and walked twice on March 10 in a 14-0 home win over the University of West Georgia. He also went 1-for-4 and scored a run last Saturday in a 13-7 loss at Clemson. The 3rd-ranked Yellow Jackets (17-3, 4-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) visit Auburn on Tuesday and play a three-game conference series at Pittsburgh on Friday through Sunday.
GAVIN DYSON — LaGrange College (Fr., Excel Christian Academy) … made a 1-⅔ innings relief appearance this past Sunday in a 17-13 loss at Huntingdon College (AL). Dyson allowed two earned runs on three hits with no walks. The Panthers (11-9, 0-3 Collegiate Conference of the South) host Berry College on Tuesday and Asbury University (KY) on Saturday and Sunday for a three-game conference series.
MICAH EARWOOD — Southeastern University (Sr., Cartersville HS) … entered with two outs in the eighth inning and picked up his first save of the season on March 12 in a 7-3 home win over Warner University (FL). Earwood allowed one earned run on two hits and one hit batter. He recorded one strikeout. The Fire (19-7, 3-1 The Sun Conference) plays a four-game conference series Thursday through Saturday at Florida Memorial University.
ELLIOTT EASTIN — Covenant College (Jr., Cartersville HS) … went 2-for-14 with one double, one walk, and two runs scored as the Scots won one of three games at Asbury University (KY). Covenant (8-10, 1-2 Collegiate Conference of the South) welcomes Sewanee-University of the South on Tuesday before traveling to a three-game conference series at Huntingdon College (AL) on Friday and Saturday.
COLIN EATON — East Tennessee State University (Sr., Cartersville HS) … worked a scoreless sixth inning, walked one batter and fanned one in a 15-2 home win this past Sunday over Bradley University (IL). The Buccaneers (14-5) begin Southern Conference play this weekend with a three-game series at UNC Greensboro.
RYAN FARR — Kentucky Christian University (So., Adairsville HS) … received no decision, but retired the final five outs without allowing a run this past Saturday in an 11-6 win at Shawnee State (OH). The Knights (10-10, 4-5 River States Conference) welcome Wilberforce University (OH) on Wednesday and will host Midway University (KY) for a three-game series on Friday and Saturday.
MADDOX FRAZIER — Southern Union State CC (Fr., Cartersville HS) … allowed one earned run on three hits in a two-inning relief appearance covering the fifth and sixth innings at Coastal Alabama-South this past Sunday. He faced ten batters and struck out one. The Bison (15-9, 6-2 ACCC) play a four-game, home-and-home series with Chattahoochee Valley CC on Thursday and Saturday with SUSCC hosting the Saturday games.
AIDAN LARKIN — Georgia Highlands College (Fr., Cartersville HS) … has now hit safely in nine straight games and 17 of the Chargers’ last 20 games after going 7-for-11 in four games last week at home against Gordon State College and East Georgia State. Larkin’s week included one home run, three doubles, four walks, four runs, and six RBI.
HUNTER LOVETT — Oglethorpe University (Fr., Cass HS) … entered in relief with two outs in the fifth inning last Friday in the Stormy Petrels’ 13-4 home loss to Wabash University (IN). Lovett worked 1-⅓ innings and yielded four earned runs on five hits and one walk. He struck out three. Oglethorpe (8-7) hosts Emory University on Tuesday and plays a three-game Southern Athletic Association series at Southwestern University (TX) on Friday and Saturday.
SAM MELTON — Gulford College (Sr., Cartersville HS) … went 2-for-5 and was hit by a pitch in two starts last week as the Quakers lost home games to Muskingum University (OH) and Hampden-Sydney College (VA). Guilford (7-9, 0-4 Old Dominion Athletic Conference) visits Pfeiffer University on Tuesday, Averett University on Wednesday, and welcomes the University of Lynchburg for a doubleheader on Saturday.
LUKE MILLER — Columbus State University (So., Cartersville HS) … went 1-for-10 with two walks and one stolen base this past weekend as the Cougars won two of three games at Georgia College. CSU (13-9, 8-4 Peach Belt Conference) hosts Clark Atlanta University on Tuesday and entertains a three-game conference series with Lander University on Friday through Sunday.
AYDEN RAY — USC Lancaster (So., Woodland HS) … made five starts last week and went 8-for-17 at the plate with two walks, three runs, one hit by pitch, one sacrifice fly, one stolen base, and seven RBI. The Lancers (16-12, 3-6 NJCAA Region 10) play at Catawba Valley CC on Thursday and host Gaston College for three games on Saturday and Sunday.
DREW ROTHSCHILD — Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (Sr., Cartersville HS) … went 4-for-11 with two walks, one home run, one double, three runs, and three RBI as the Stallions swept a three-game home series last weekend with Brewton-Parker Christian University. ABAC (19-8, 6-3 Southern States Athletic Conference) plays a doubleheader at Trinity College of Jacksonville on Tuesday and visits Thomas University (GA) for a three game series on Friday and Saturday.
LOGAN SHREWSBURY — Columbus State University (Fr., Cartersville HS) … pitched a scoreless ninth inning this past Saturday with no decision as the Cougars won at Georgia College 11-3. He faced only three batters and struck out one. Columbus State (13-9, 8-4 Peach Belt Conference) welcomes Clark Atlanta University on Tuesday and hosts Lander University this weekend in a three-game series.
HANK SMITH — University of West Georgia (R-Jr., Cartersville HS) … made a catching start on March 10 and went 0-for-2 in a 14-0 loss at Georgia Tech. The Wolves (5-15, 2-1 Atlantic Sun Conference) hosts Georgia State University on Tuesday before playing a three-game conference series at Stetson University (FL) on Friday through Sunday.
DAVIS WILLIAMS — University of West Georgia (R-Jr., Cartersville HS) … made three relief appearances last week with no pitching decisions. He worked one shutout inning at both Georgia Tech and at home against Jacksonville University with one strikeout in each. He also had a two-inning appearance on Sunday against Jacksonville yielding one earned run on two hits and one hit batter with two strikeouts. The Wolves (5-15, 2-1 Atlantic Sun Conference) welcome Georgia State University on Tuesday and travel to DeLand, Florida for a three-game conference series at Stetson this weekend.
SAWYER WILSON — Columbus State University (So., Cartersville HS) … tossed a nine-inning complete-game last Friday, improving his season mark to 4-1, as the Cougars won at Georgia College 5-1. Wilson allowed one earned run on three hits, three hit batters, and two walks. He fanned five. CSU (13-9, 8-4 Peach Belt Conference) hosts Clark Atlanta University on Tuesday and entertains a three-game conference series with Lander University on Friday through Sunday.
SOFTBALL
KILEY ARNOLD — Shorter University (Jr., Cartersville HS) … went 3-for-16 at the plate in six starts last week as the Hawks went 1-5 in doubleheaders with Young Harris College, North Greenville University, and Converse College (SC). Arnold had one RBI with one sacrifice fly. Shorter (10-21, 4-8 Conference Carolinas) welcomes Chowan University (NC) and Barton College (NC) for doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday.
JORDAN BISHOP — Virginia Tech (Fr., Cartersville HS) … made a defensive appearance on March 11 in a 14-2 Hokies win at Elon University, but did not have an at-bat. Virginia Tech also dropped two of three games over the weekend at 25th-ranked Duke. The Hokies (23-4, 1-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) visit Longwood University for a doubleheader on Wednesday and host an ACC three-game series with NC State this weekend.
TAYLOR EVANS — Southern Wesleyan University (Fr., Adairsville HS) … entered at catcher and had one at-bat this past Saturday in a 7-0 win at Emmanuel University (GA). The Warriors (18-8, 7-2) visit Erskine College on Tuesday for two games and welcome the University of Mount Olive for a doubleheader on Friday.
ANSLEY HIGHT — Reinhardt University (Jr., Cass HS) … went 6-for-11, including one homer, four doubles, one walk, and one hit by pitch as the Eagles won two games at Bluefield University (VA) and split a doubleheader at Union Commonwealth University. Reinhardt (12-4, 8-2 Appalachian Athletic Conference) hosts Columbia International University (SC) on Saturday for a conference doubleheader.
ERYN LEE — Reinhardt University (Sr., Cass HS) … made three starts and went 3-for-8, including two doubles, two walks, and scored three runs in two wins at Bluefield University (VA) and one loss at Union Commonwealth University. The Eagles (12-4, 8-2 Appalachian Athletic Conference) welcome Columbia International University (SC) for two games on Saturday.
RACHAEL LEE — Valdosta State University (Sr., Cass HS) … went 3-for-9 with two homers, one double, scored three runs, and drove in five as the Blazers lost March 11 at Columbus State University and swept three home games with Delta State University over the weekend. VSU (13-11, 8-4 Gulf South Conference) hosts Rollins College (FL) on Wednesday and visits the University of Montevallo (AL) for a three-game series on Friday and Saturday.
AVA PERKINS — Lander University (Jr., Cartersville HS) … entered as a pinch hitter at the designated player position and went 0-for-2 at the plate in a 9-7 win at USC Beaufort last Friday. The Bearkats (16-7, 6-0 Peach Belt Conference) visit Emmanuel University (GA) for two games on Tuesday and host the University of North Georgia for three games on Friday and Saturday.
ALEXIS WOODS — Tennessee State University (Jr., Cass HS) … went 3-for-10 with one double, one run scored, and one stolen base, but the Tigers lost all three games of a home series with Tennessee Tech. TSU (0-16, 0-6 Ohio Valley Conference) hosts UT-Chattanooga on Wednesday and has a three-game home conference series with UT-Martin on Saturday and Sunday.
BEACH VOLLEYBALL
AILEE ENGLAND — Berry College (So., Cartersville HS) … partnered with Kaylee Howell to win a Line 3 match as the Vikings defeated Catawba College 5-0 last Friday at the Eckerd Tritons Tournament in St. Petersburg, Florida. The duo also won their Line 3 match as Berry won 3-2 over Erskine College (SC). Their only loss of the weekend came in a 5-0 team loss to host Eckerd. Berry hosts the 4th annual D-III Only Tournament with Huntingdon College, Stevenson University, East Texas Baptist University, and the University of Lynchburg on Friday and Saturday.
LAUREN LAWSON — University of South Carolina (Jr., Cartersville HS) … won two different extra matches against College of Charleston and UNC Wilmington with partner Sadie Nelson this past weekend as the 20th-ranked Gamecocks went 4-0 while hosting the Carolina Challenge in Columbia. The Gamecocks head to Birmingham for the March to May Tournament on Friday and Saturday, where they will face UAB, North Alabama, and Austin Peay.
LONDON MOULTRIE — Wingate University (Jr., Cartersville HS) … had two Line 3 wins with partner Amelia Talbott on March 11 as the Bulldogs beat Morehead State University 3-2 in both matches. This past weekend in Clarksville, Tennessee, Moultrie and Talbott defeated Line 3 opponents from Tusculum University and Austin Peay, but lost to opponents from UT-Chattanooga. The Bulldogs defeated Tusculum, but lost the UTC and Austin Peay. Wingate plays at Catawba College on Wednesday and hosts the Wingate Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
TENNIS
EMILY BUSH — University of North Georgia (Sr., Cartersville HS) … won her Line 6 singles match 6-2, 6-3 and partnered with teammate Linn Goerdes to win a Line 2 doubles set 6-3 as the Nighthawks defeated 24th-ranked Texas-Tyler 4-1 last Thursday at the Scenic City Spring Break Showcase in Chattanooga. Bush and her partner also won a Line 2 doubles set in a 4-1 team victory on March 11 over the 26th-ranked University of Indianapolis. Her singles match was halted. UNG hosts Augusta University on Monday, visits Young Harris College on Thursday, and will meet the University of West Alabama on Sunday for a match in Rome.
SYDNEY COPPOLA — Berry College (Jr., Cass HS) … won her Line 6 singles match last Thursday as the Vikings defeated Georgetown College (KY) 5-2 in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Coppola also lost a Line 6 singles match and lost at Line 3 doubles with partner Charlee Eidson in a 0-7 team loss to Fairmont State University on March 10, also at Hilton Head. Berry hosts Brenau University on Friday.
TRACK AND FIELD
WILL PARKER — Columbia College (Fr., Woodland HS) … finished 23rd (4:47.48) in the 1500-meter run this past weekend at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge. The Koalas finished tied for 13th at the 27-team event. Columbia competes at the Montreat College Open on Friday and Saturday.
GOLF
ANDREW LUTJENS — Georgia College (Fr., Cartersville HS) … carded rounds of 70-72-70—212 (4-under par) and tied for 14th individually as the Bobcats placed seventh at the 18-team Greenwood Invitational hosted by Lander University on March 8-9. Grand Valley State won the tournament by three shots over Flagler College and the University of Findlay. Georgia College hosts their own Bobcat Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at The Golf Club at Cuscowilla in Eatonton.
BASKETBALL
ZION HAYES — Vincennes University (So., Cass HS) … scored 10 points with seven rebounds and two assists in a 68-62 loss to Wabash Valley College on March 10 in the finals of the NJCAA Region 24 tournament at Land Lake College in Mattoon, Illinois. Hayes averaged over 12 points and 6 rebounds this season as the Trailblazers went 20-10.
