Athletes Beyond Bartow: Cartersville products Seigler and Howard continue MiLB work


Cartersville products Anthony Seigler (left) and Sam Howard continue to toil in MiLB action with their respective clubs. Last Friday night, Howard made his first appearance with Toledo since July 1 and earned a hold in a Mud Hens victory. In New York, Seigler appeared in four games for Hudson Valley as the Renegades have surged into first place in the second half standings of the South Atlantic League’s North Division.


 

SAM HOWARD — Toledo Mud Hens (9th yr. pro; Triple-A Detroit Tigers organization; Georgia Southern; Cartersville HS) … made his first appearance since July 1 Friday night and earned a one-inning hold as the Mud Hens won at the St. Paul Saints, 7-3. The southpaw worked a 1-2-3 seventh inning to collect his third hold of the season. In 18 appearances in 2022 with three diffferent MiLB teams — Bradenton, Indianapolis, and Toledo — the 29-year-old has an 0-2 record with a 3.24 ERA. He has 22 strikeouts and 11 walks with a 1.26 WHIP. The Mud Hens (45-43) are 8.5 games behind Nashville in the International League’s West Division. Toledo will host the Columbus Clippers July 22-24 followed by Indianapolis July 26-31.


ANTHONY SEIGLER — Hudson Valley Renegades (5th yr. pro; High Class-A New York Yankees organization; Cartersville HS) … in four home games this past week against the Greenville Drive, Seigler was 3-for-14 at the plate including a double. He scored two runs and added one stolen base. Hudson Valley (47-39 overall) is 13-7 in the second half standings and leads Aberdeen by 2.5 games in the South Atlantic League’s North Division. The Renegades are off until Friday, July 22 when they travel to the Wilmington Blue Rocks to begin a three game series.
