Athletes Beyond Bartow: Lawrence, Jags hold off Saints for road win
Former Cartersville High and Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence went from doubtful and injured to his team's leading rusher last Thursday night as the Jacksonville Jaguars won 31-24 at the New Orleans Saints. The win keeps the Jags in first place in the AFC South Division.
Lawrence had three end-of-game kneel-downs that took away four rushing yards from his total. Without those, his final rushing stats would have read five carries for 63 yards, with several coming in key spots lifting Jacksonville's offense that sputtered a bit after a fast start.
