MASON BARNETT — Las Vegas Aviators (Oakland A’s Triple-A affiliate; 4th-year pro; Auburn; Cartersville HS) … improved his season mark to 3-1 on June 3 with a five-inning pitching start and eventual 6-2 win at the Tacoma Raniers. He allowed one earned run on two hits and three walks while striking out four of 21 batters faced. After going 4-2 last week at Tacoma, the Aviators (38-24) entered the week with a 7-½ game lead over the Sacramento River Cats. This week, Las Vegas has a six-game home series against the Salt Lake Bees.
LOGAN MARTIN — Quad Cities River Bandits (Kansas City Royals High-Class A affiliate; 3rd-year pro; Kentucky; Cartersville HS) … was charged with a pitching loss in a three-inning start this past Sunday at the Peoria Chiefs. Martin gave up six earned runs on eight hits and two walks. He struck out three of 18 batters faced in the 9-4 loss. The River Bandits (33-24) went 1-5 last week at Peoria, but entered the week with a one-half game lead over the Cedar Rapids Kernels in the Midwest League West. Quad Cities has a six-game home series with the Beloit Sky Carp this week.

ANTHONY SEIGLER — Nashville Sounds (Milwaukee Brewers Triple-A affiliate; 8th-year pro; Cartersville HS) … one of the hottest bats in Triple-A baseball, the 25-year-old hit safely in each of his games last week and has now hit safely in 24 of his previous 25 games dating back to May 2. Seigler went 8-for-19 in five games during the week, including two walks, three doubles, six runs scored, and four RBI. A pitch hit him, and he stole two bases. During his current stretch, the catcher/second baseman has raised his batting average from .208 to .307. For the season, he has six homers, 25 RBI, and has stolen 17 bases with an on-base percentage of .444. Nashville (38-24) has a 3-½ game lead over the Indianapolis Indians in the International League’s West Division and visits the Norfolk Tides this week for a six-game series.
COLLEGE SOFTBALL

ANSLEY HIGHT — Reinhardt University (So, Cass HS) … in her first season with the Eagles after transferring from the University of Southern Mississippi, Hight was selected Second Team NAIA All-American in 2025 as a designated hitter. In 44 games, she hit .438 with 13 home runs, 62 RBI, and scored 30 runs. She was also the Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Year and helped lead Reinhardt to its first NAIA World Series appearance since 2014.
