MLB SPRING TRAINING
MASON BARNETT — Oakland Athletics organization (5th yr. pro; Auburn; Cartersville HS) … has made two spring training starts against Milwaukee and San Diego. He has worked 4-⅓ innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits and two walks with four strikeouts. He has a 1-1 record this spring.
BASKETBALL
SE’NAI CAMPER — Montreat College (Fr., Cartersville HS) … in a conference tournament game win over Columbia College and a tourney loss to Milligan University, Camper totaled nine points, six rebounds, two steals, and one assist. She averaged 4.5 points and 2.9 rebounds this season, appearing in 26 games. The Cavaliers finished with an 11-17 record.
JA’KA’YAH DRAUGHN — Brewton Parker Christian University (So., Cartersville HS) … scored five points, with four rebounds, one steal, and one assist in a 90-71 first-round Southern States Athletic Conference tournament loss to the University of Mobile in Montgomery, Alabama. Draughn averaged 9.4 points and 2.6 rebounds in 27 games this season as the Barons finished with a 7-21 record.
ANSLEY GRIFFIN — North Carolina Wesleyan University (So., Cartersville HS) … scored 17 points with one rebound, one assist, and one steal February 24 in a 91-69 USA South Athletic Conference first-round tournament win over Greensboro College (NC) in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. She also had three steals and two rebounds without scoring in a 74-71 tournament loss last Thursday to Southern Virginia University. Griffin averaged 2.5 points and one rebound per game in 26 appearances this season. The Battlin’ Bishops completed the season with a 15-11 record.
ZION HAYES — Vincennes University (So., Cass HS) … totaled 19 points in a home win on February 25 over Olney Central College (IL) and a loss last Saturday at Wabash Valley College (IL). Hayes also had eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals in those two games. The Trailblazers (19-8) host Southwestern Illinois College on Tuesday.
ZYON HEATH — LaGrange College (So., Woodland HS) … made brief Collegiate Conference of the South tournament appearances last Friday and Saturday at Maryville College (TN) and on Saturday against Belhaven University (MS) in Maryville, scoring one point with two rebounds. The Panthers defeated Asbury University (KY) and Maryville College in the semifinals, but lost to Belhaven University in the championship game, 92-73. LaGrange finished the season with a 16-12 record.
HALEY JOHNSON — Reinhardt University (Sr., Cass HS) … appeared in two Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament games last week — wins over Johnson Universitiy (TN) and Spartanburg Methodist. She had three rebounds and one steal in the two games. Reinhardt reached the tournament finals, but lost to Milligan University 64-62. The Eagles (23-7) have earned a bid into the 2025-26 NAIA National Tournament and await their site assignment.
KEARA McDANIEL — Toccoa Falls College (Sr., Cass HS) … totaled 19 points with 11 rebounds, seven assists, and two steals as the Screaming Eagles beat Southeastern Baptist, but lost to Pensacola Christian at the National Christian College Division II South Region Tournament. McDaniel averaged eight points and four rebounds this season. Toccoa Falls finished the season with a 10-20 record.
T.J. PRINTUP — Tusculum University (R-Jr., Adairsville HS) … totaled 33 points, 10 rebounds, three steals, three blocks, and two assists last week in losses at Emory & Henry and at home against 8th-ranked Anderson University. The Pioneers (10-18, 6-16 South Atlantic Conference) did not qualify for the conference tournament.
LONDAISHA SMITH — Reinhardt University (Sr., Cass HS) … in three Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament games last week in Kingsport, Tennessee, Smith totaled 45 points, 19 rebounds, four steals, and three assists. The Eagles beat Johnson University (TN) and Spartanburg Methodist, but lost in the finals to Milligan University 64-62. Reinhardt (23-7) awaits its assignment in the NAIA National Championship Tournament.
BEACH VOLLEYBALL
AILEE ENGLAND — Berry College (So., Cartersville HS) … partnered with teammate Kaylee Howell as the Vikings went 3-1 last Friday and Saturday at the Badger Beach Bash in Mobile, Alabama. The duo had a 21-13, 21-12 win against their opponents from Huntingdon College (AL), but lost in three sets, 20-22, 23-21, 15-11, to their Spring Hill College (AL) opponents in a 3-2 team loss. In a 4-1 team win over Erskine College, the duo won a Line 3 match 21-16, 21-19, and they won 21-8, 21-12 in a 5-0 team victory over LaGrange College. Berry (6-3) hosts the Berry Kick-Off with Tennessee Tech and LaGrange College on Friday and Saturday.
LAUREN LAWSON — University of South Carolina (So., Cartersville HS) … played in an extra match and had split the first two sets with partner Sadie Nelson in the Gamecocks’ 4-1 win last Friday over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Their match was halted. The duo also lost an extra match to Coastal Carolina last Saturday, as USC won 4-1 over the Chanticleers. South Carolina (6-2) went 4-0 at the Wheeler Beach Bash, with additional team wins over Austin Peay and Chattanooga. They host the Carolina Challenge on Friday and Saturday with the College of Charleston, Boise State, Jacksonville University, and North Carolina-Wilmington.
TENNIS
EMILY BUSH — University of North Georgia (Sr., Cartersville HS) … won her Line 6 singles match 7-6, 6-0, and paired with Linn Goerdes at Line 2 doubles to win 6-4 as the Nighthawks blanked Lincoln Memorial University 7-0 on Sunday in Dahlonega. UNG hosts Carson-Newman University (TN) on Monday and will participate in the Scenic City Spring Break Showcase on March 9-12 in Chattanooga.
GYMNASTICS
ABIGAIL BUNCH — Rhode Island College (Sr., Cass HS) … scored a 9.400 on the unbalanced bars and a 9.300 on balance beam this past Sunday as the Anchorwomen won a four-team meet at Utica University (NY), defeating the hosts, Ithaca College (NY), and Springfield College (RI). RIC will host the NCGA East Championship in Providence on Saturday.
INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
ANDY FORSYTH — Berry College (So., Woodland HS) … finished second (1:57.49) in the 800 meters at the Southern Athletic Association Track & Field Championships last weekend in Danville, Kentucky. The Vikings finished third in the nine-team conference championship meet behind Centre College (KY) and Trinity University (TX). Next for Berry, they will host the Victor Icebreaker Duals on Saturday, with the NCAA Indoor Championships in Birmingham on March 13-14.
DANIELLE THAYER — Augusta University (So., Woodland HS) … finished 12th (18:48.61) in the 5000-meter run at the 2026 Peach Belt Conference Indoor Championships in Gainesville, Florida. Augusta moves to an outdoor schedule on March 20-21 at Emory University's Invitational.
GOLF
ANDREW LUTJENS — Georgia College (Fr., Cartersville HS) … carded rounds of 78-78-72 and tied for 35th as the Bobcats finished 13th of 16 teams at the Oldfield Classic on February 22-23 in Okatie, South Carolina. Georgia Southwestern won the tournament. The next tournament for Georgia College is the Lander University Greenwood Invitational.
BRODY TIDWELL — Georgia State University (Jr., Cartersville HS) … fired rounds of 71-76-72 and tied for 26th place as the Panthers finished 11th of 15 teams at the Dorado Beach Collegiate on February 21-22 in Puerto Rico. Georgia State plays in the Sam Ryder Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday (March 2-3) hosted by Stetson University in DeLand, Florida.
SOFTBALL
KILEY ARNOLD — Shorter University (Jr., Cartersville HS) … started three of four games last week for the Hawks as they beat Clark Atlanta twice last Thursday, but lost twice to Emmanuel University (GA) on Saturday. Arnold was 2-for-6 at the plate with one RBI and scored one run. The Hawks (6-15, 0-2 Conference Carolinas) host conference doubleheaders with Erskine College (SC) on Tuesday and Belmont Abbey College (NC) on Saturday.
JORDAN BISHOP — Virginia Tech (Fr., Cartersville HS) … appeared in two games last weekend as the Hokies went 5-0 at the Auburn University Jane B. Moore Memorial. Bishop entered as a pinch runner, scored a run, and played defensively at catcher in a win over USC-Upstate on Sunday. She also had an unsuccessful pinch-hitting appearance against the same team on Friday. Virginia Tech also had two wins over Auburn and one over Troy. The Hokies (16-2) host their own invitational from Thursday through Sunday, featuring Michigan, James Madison, Penn State, Radford, and Bryant.
HAYLEE DISHMON — Berry College (Jr., Cass HS) … made a start in right field on February 25 at LaGrange and was 0-for-2 at the plate with a sacrifice hit, an RBI, and one run scored as the Vikings won 8-0. Berry was 3-1 for the week, sweeping two games at LaGrange and splitting a doubleheader this past Saturday at Emory University. The Vikings (7-1) will play DePauw University (IN), East Texas Baptist University, Denison University (OH), Trine University (OH), Spalding University (KY), and Bethel University (MN) this weekend at the NFCA Lead-Off Classic in Columbus, Georgia.
MEGAN GREGORY — Indiana University (Jr., Adairsville HS) … pitched the fifth inning, facing five batters with two walks and one strikeout this past Saturday in a 9-0 win over Charleston Southern University at the Elon & UNCG Tournament in Elon, North Carolina. The Hoosiers went 5-0 in the tournament, with additional wins over UNC Greensboro twice, Elon, and Charleston Southern. Indiana (16-4) begins Big Ten Conference action this weekend with a three-game home series on Friday through Sunday against Minnesota.
ANSLEY HIGHT — Reinhardt University (Jr., Cass HS) … started six of seven games played by the Eagles last week in Columbus at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Georgia, and at home against Montreat College (NC). She was 6-for-20 at the plate with two homers, five RBI, and one walk. Reinhardt went 4-3 during the week. The Eagles (6-3) play a doubleheader at Bryan College (TN) on Friday.
ALYSSA JARRETT — Piedmont University (Jr., Adairsville HS) … appeared in five home games last week — three against Pfeiffer University (NC) and two against Mount St. Joseph University (OH). The Lions’ catcher was 1-for-11 at the plate, including a triple and one RBI. Piedmont went 3-2 for the week and is now 3-5 on the season. The Lions visit Salem College (NC) on Wednesday for a doubleheader before playing in the Diamond Classic in Raleigh, North Carolina on Friday through Sunday. Piedmont will face Mary Baldwin University (VA), Salisbury University (MD), the University of Lynchburg (VA), Methodist University (NC), Eastern Mennonite University (VA), and Randolph-Macon College (VA) in that tournament.
ERYN LEE — Reinhardt University (Sr., Cass HS) … started seven games for the Eagles last week — two at home against Montreat College (NC) and five at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Georgia. Lee was 7-for-23 at the plate, including four walks, five runs, one RBI, and one stolen base. Reinhardt went 4-3 during the week. The Eagles (6-3) play a doubleheader at Bryan College (TN) on Friday.
RACHAEL LEE — Valdosta State University (Sr., Cass HS) … in three home starts last weekend against Alabama-Huntsville, Lee went 4-for-6 at the plate, including one walk, one double, one hit by pitch, and one stolen base as the Blazers won two of three games in the series. Valdosta State (9-7, 5-1 Gulf South Conference) has a three-game conference series at the University of West Alabama on Saturday and Sunday.
AVA PERKINS — Lander University (Jr., Cartersville HS) … made a start at second base and was 0-for-2 with two walks on February 25 in a 6-0 home loss to Francis Marion University. The Bearkats (8-6) play at Florida Southern College on Tuesday, Embry-Riddle University on Wednesday, and Georgia Southwestern University for three games on Friday and Saturday.
ALEXIS WOODS — Tennessee State University (Jr., Cass HS) … in four games at the Mercer University Invitational last Saturday and Sunday, Woods was 3-for-9, including one double, three walks, one sacrifice, and three RBI. The Tigers (0-10) play a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series at the University of Southern Indiana on Saturday and Sunday.
BASEBALL
CURT BONNER — LaGrange College (Sr., Cartersville HS) … went 3-for-15 at the plate as the Panthers lost a home game to Emory University on February 24 and swept a three-game weekend series at North Carolina Wesleyan University. He was hit by a pitch, walked twice, and drove in four runs in the four games. LaGrange (9-4) hosts Oglethorpe University for a three-game series on Saturday and Sunday.
CALEB DANIEL — Georgia Tech (So., Cartersville HS) … went 5-for-15 in four games last week, including one home run, two doubles, six runs scored, one RBI, one walk, and one hit by pitch. The Yellow Jackets lost to visiting Georgia State University on February 24 and swept a weekend home series against Northwestern University. Third-ranked Georgia Tech (11-1) visits Georgia State on Tuesday before hosting an Atlantic Coast Conference three-game series with Virginia Tech on Friday through Sunday.
ELLIOTT EASTIN — Covenant College (Jr., Cartersville HS) … in three losses to Emory University last week, Eastin was 3-for-8 with one walk, one hit by pitch, one stolen base, and three RBI. The Scots (6-4) visit Sewanee-University of the South on Tuesday, and welcome Ohio Wesleyan for four games on Saturday and Monday.
RYAN FARR — Kentucky Christian University (So., Adairsville HS) … pitched two scoreless relief innings last Saturday in a 10-4 home loss to Indiana University-Kokomo. Farr issued one walk and had one strikeout. The Knights (5-7, 1-2 River States Conference) play a three-game series on Friday and Saturday at West Virginia University Tech.
MADDOX FRAZIER — Southern Union State CC (Fr., Cartersville HS) … faced two batters and retired the final out in the seventh inning of a 6-5 win on February 24 at Gordon State College in Barnesville. SUSCC (9-7) plays a doubleheader at Northwest Shoals CC on Thursday and hosts Northwest Shoals for two games on Saturday.
AIDAN LARKIN — Georgia Highlands College (Fr., Cartersville HS) … went 5-for-13 with one home run, six walks, one hit by pitch, and two RBI last week as the Chargers won four of five. GHC beat Pellissippi State CC (TN) twice and won two of three against Chattahoochee Valley CC (AL). The Chargers (20-7) host South Georgia State on Tuesday and Andrew College for a doubleheader on Saturday.
HUNTER LOVETT — Oglethorpe University (Fr., Cass HS) … made two, one-inning relief appearances with no decision against Piedmont University and Greensboro College last week. He allowed one earned run on four hits and one walk with three strikeouts. The Stormy Petrels (4-3) lost to Piedmont, but swept three games last weekend with Greensboro College. Oglethorpe visits Emory University on Tuesday, plays two games at LaGrange College on Friday and Saturday, and hosts the Panthers on Sunday.
LUKE MILLER — Columbus State University (So., Cartersville HS) … went 2-for-4 with one double, five walks, one stolen base, and four RBI last Saturday in a 19-0 home win over Ohio Dominican University. The Cougars swept ODU in a three-game series and improved to 8-7 on the season. CSU hosts the University of Montevallo (AL) on Tuesday before traveling to USC Aiken for a three-game Peach Belt Conference series on Friday through Sunday.
JACK NELSON — Wabash Valley College (Fr., Adairsville HS) … pitched the seventh inning, allowed no runs or hits, and struck out one on February 25 in a 26-9 home win over Vincennes University. The Warriors (16-4) visit Mineral Area College (MO) on Tuesday, Kaskaskia College (IL) on Thursday, and host Kaskaskia for a doubleheader on Saturday.
JULEZ PRATT — Wabash Valley College (Fr., Cartersville HS) … had one official at-bat and one walk in appearances in three games last week against Vincennes University (IN), Elgin CC (IL), and Southwest Tennessee CC. The Warriors (16-4) visit Mineral Area College (MO) on Tuesday, Kaskaskia College (IL) on Thursday, and host Kaskaskia for a doubleheader on Saturday.
AYDIN RAY — USC Lancaster (So., Woodland HS) … went 1-for-5, including one walk, one run scored, and one stolen base in three losses last weekend at Florence-Darlington Tech. USC Lancaster (9-9, 1-4) hosts Rockingham CC on Tuesday and three games with USC Sumter on Saturday and Sunday.
DREW ROTHSCHILD — Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (Sr., Cartersville HS) … went 2-for-15 last week in a road game at Middle Georgia State and three at William Carey University (MS). He walked once, was hit by a pitch, and scored three runs. The Stallions (14-7, 1-2 Southern States Athletic Conference) host a three-game conference series with Loyola University New Orleans on Friday and Saturday.
LOGAN SHREWSBURY — Columbus State University (Fr., Cartersville HS) … made a relief appearance and retired one out in the fifth inning of an eventual 6-3 win over Ohio Dominican University. He faced three batters and allowed two earned runs on two walks. The Cougars host the University of Montevallo (AL) on Tuesday before traveling to USC Aiken for a three-game Peach Belt Conference series on Friday through Sunday.
HANK SMITH — University of West Georgia (R-Jr., Cartersville HS) … was 0-for-1 in an appearance at Auburn on February 25 and 1-for-1 in a start last Friday at the University of South Alabama. The Wolves lost 4-3 to 7th-ranked Auburn and dropped all three games of a series at USA in Mobile. UWG (1-11) has a four-game series on Friday through Sunday at Wichita State University (KS).
KADEN STEPHENSON — Oglethorpe University (Jr., Cartersville HS) … in four home starts last week against Piedmont University on February 24 and three games with Greensboro College over the weekend, Stephenson was 4-for-14 with one home run, one triple, two doubles, four runs scored, four walks, one stolen base, and six RBI. The Stormy Petrels lost to Piedmont, but swept three games with Greensboro College. Oglethorpe (4-3) visits Emory University on Tuesday, plays at LaGrange College on Friday and Saturday, and hosts the Panthers on Sunday.
DAVIS WILLIAMS — University of West Georgia (R-Jr., Cartersville HS) … made a pair of pitching appearances last week, with each covering two-thirds of an inning. At Auburn on February 25, he faced four batters and allowed no runs on two hits. At the University of South Alabama this past Sunday, he walked two batters and hit one batter, but escaped the appearance with no runs and no hits. UWG (1-11) plays a four-game series at Wichita State University this weekend.
SAWYER WILSON — Columbus State University (So., Cartersville HS) … made a seven-inning, complete-game start last Saturday and shut out Ohio Dominican University 19-0. He allowed just two hits, issued two walks, and struck out six. The Cougars swept ODU in a three-game series and improved to 8-7 on the season. CSU hosts the University of Montevallo (AL) on Tuesday before traveling to USC Aiken for a three-game Peach Belt Conference series on Friday through Sunday.
