Bartow County 14U fourth at Georgia Junior Little League state tournament

The Bartow County Little League 14U team was eliminated at the Georgia Junior Little League state tournament on Thursday afternoon and finished 2-2 in the event.

Both Bartow 14U losses were to Hart County (5-4 and 13-3), but the local team had wins over East Marietta (5-3) and Washington Wilkes (17-4) in the elimination bracket on Wednesday.

Hart County faced Oconee County on Thursday night, with the survivor needing two wins over unbeaten Vine Ingle in Friday's championship round.

Mason Benitez led the Bartow 14U offense with six hits in the state tournament, including two RBI. Logan Johnson followed with five hits, including two doubles and four RBI. Sam Wallin (double, four RBI) and Jaxon Stanfield (two RBI) each finished the tournament with four hits. Knox Gunter (RBI) and Brantley Collum contributed three hits. Easton Allison produced two hits and two RBI. Cole Coker (RBI), Tyler Moon (RBI), and Isaiah Flores each added one hit. 

On the mound, Wallin had 10 strikeouts in 6-1/3 innings. Coker totaled five strikeouts in 6-1/3 innings. Gunter fanned eight in 4-1/3 innings of work. Collum recorded five strikeouts across 2-1/3 innings. Benitez and Flores each struck out four in 3-1/3 innings.
