Bartow County 8U coach pitch softball and baseball teams win GRPA District 5 championships
The Bartow County 8U Coach Pitch softball team won the GRPA District 5 championship Thursday night by defeating Calhoun 20-5 in the title game.
Bartow 8U went undefeated in five straight games to capture the double-elimination tournament played at Westside Park in Whitfield County.
Livi Caverly, Addie Reynolds, and Dawsyn Eure paced Bartow County in the championship game with three hits each. Emarie Thomason, Annaleigh Altizer, McKynlee Gunter, and Addy Johnson followed with a pair of hits each. Rylee English, Brinley Weaver, Saydie Ray, and Hallie Bell added one hit apiece in Thursday’s victory.
Bartow 8U had wins over Gordon County (32-19), Dalton (25-21), Rockmart (32-23), and Calhoun twice (24-13 and 20-5) to win the district.
The locals advance to the five-team GRPA State Tournament at Riverbend Park in Dalton next Tuesday through Thursday, June 21-23.
BARTOW GREEN 8U CAPTURES DISTRICT 5 TITLE
The 8U Bartow Green coach pitch baseball team rallied from behind in their final frame to capture the 2022 GRPA District 5 championship Thursday night. Bartow Green trailed until the bottom of the fifth inning but surged to a 13-5 victory.
Bartow Green went 5-0 to win the 15-team, double-elimination tournament at Riverbend Park in Whitfield County.
Bartow Green had tournament wins over Rockmart (24-1), Calhoun (15-10), Dalton Black (12-4), and Cartersville Purple (14-3) to reach the championship round. The Adairsville club then topped Calhoun a second time in Thursday night’s finals.
Cole Baker produced a pair of hits including a double for Bartow Green in Thursday night’s win. Sam Williams and Titus Childers also had two hits. Cash Miller, Brody Morrow, Jake Nida, Ethan Massey, and Hank Earwood all added one hit apiece.
Bartow Green opens the 12-team 2022 8U Coach Pitch GRPA State Tournament next Tuesday back at Riverbend Park in Whitfield County against St. Simons. The double-elimination state tournament continues next week through Friday.
