Bartow County Junior Little League (14U) wins Southeast Regional opener over Tennessee


The Bartow County Junior Little League (14U) baseball team won its opening game of the Southeast Regional in Broadway, Virginia Friday, defeating Smith County, Tennessee 6-2.


The game, originally scheduled for 12 noon on Friday, was delayed several hours due to rain and storms in the area.

Bartow (1-0) advances for a 12 noon scheduled game on Saturday against the winner of Friday night’s match up between Jefferson County, West Virginia and McDowell County, North Carolina. That game started late Friday due to weather delays.


Hudson Parr started on the mound for the locals in their opening round win. Isaac Burnett, Landon Cassidy, Barrett Fuller, and Harrison Cole all pitched in the victory.


Lyle Woody, Elisha Moore (2 RBIs), Fuller, and Cole (2 RBIs) each finished with one hit apiece. Cassidy added one RBI.


In the only other game played Friday, Viera/Suntree of Melbourne, Florida defeated Irmo, South Carolina, 7-6.


The Southeast Regional Tournament continues through Tuesday at Broadway High School in Virginia with the winner advancing to the Junior Little League World Series in Taylor, Michigan August 14-21.
