Bartow County Junior Little League defeats Peachtree City to reach final three at state tourney
The Bartow County Junior Little League baseball team trailed 11-1 through going into the bottom of the fourth inning Monday night. Still, it rallied for eight runs in the fourth inning and six more in the sixth inning to defeat Peachtree City at the Georgia Junior Little League State Tournament in Columbus.
The comeback win for Bartow County avenged a first-round loss last Saturday to PCLL.
Landon Farmer pitched 3-⅓ innings with one strikeout to gather the pitching victory. Kasey Jacobs worked the other 3-⅔ on the bump.
Zaylen Cochran and Jayce Little were both 2-for-4 at the plate for Bartow. Connor Corbin finished 2-for-5 with a double. Hilton Wade, Nick Robinson, and Clayton Wilkes added one hit each in the victory.
Bartow 14U, now 2-1 at the state tournament, plays Toccoa Tuesday night at 5 p.m. in an elimination game with the winner advancing to the championship round against Athens.
Athens is unbeaten in the state tournament and needs just one more win in the double-elimination event. The Bartow/Toccoa winner will need to beat Athens twice to win the title,
The championship round — including the “if game” — is scheduled for Wednesday evening at Armour Road Park in Columbus.
