Bartow County Little League 10U captures Georgia District 1 championship


The Bartow County Little League 10U baseball team won the Georgia District 1 championship Tuesday night with an 11-1 win over Rockmart. Members of the Bartow team include: Karsin Darby, Joseph Frederick, Brodie Gardner, Maddox Koontz, Cade McCorkle, Benjamin Nida, Noah Rogers, Logan Smith, Houston Walden, Leroy Watts, MJ Raughton, and Will Whitman. Manager: Dustin Smith. Coaches: Justin Watts, Khyri Rogers, Jeremy Gardner, and Robbie McCorkle.

The Bartow County Little League 10U team went undefeated in the tournament and captured the Georgia District 1 championship Tuesday night with an 11-1 win over Rockmart.

Bartow also had a 14-3 win over Rockmart earlier in the double-elimination tournament and a 13-6 win over Cartersville Little League.

In Tuesday night’s championship game, Bartow 10U pitcher Noah Rogers starred on the mound tossing a four-inning, one-hitter. Rogers allowed only a third inning single and a first inning walk. Rockmart’s first inning run was unearned and Rogers struck out ten of the sixteen batters faced in the contest.

Meanwhile, the Bartow offense produced 13 hits including four extra base hits.

Rogers doubled, tripled, and drove in three runs while going 3-for-3 with a walk. Cade McCorkle also had three hits and one RBI. Houston Walden followed with two hits and three RBIs including a triple. Mitchell Raughton finished with two hits including a double and one RBI. Logan Smith contributed one hit and one RBI. Will Whitman, who stole two bases, added a hit while Maddox Koontz drove in a pair of runs. Brodie Gardner, Leroy Watts, Smith, and Raughton each stole one base each.

The District 1 title advances Bartow 10U to the Georgia Little League 8-10 State Championship Tournament that begins July 10 at Martinez-Evans Little League in Augusta.
