Bartow County Little League earns rematch with Cartersville for District 1 title
Bartow County Little League 12U raced to a 14-0 lead through the team’s first four offensive frames Monday night at the Georgia District 1 Little League tournament at Hamilton Crossing Park. The flurry of offense allowed Bartow to finish off Dalton Little League in a semifinal elimination game, 14-1, in four innings.
Bartow posted two runs in the first inning, six in the second, one in the third, and seven runs in the top of the fourth frame on the way to victory. The only Dalton run scored in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Elijah Bryant, who also had three hits, was the winning pitcher for Bartow County.
Grayson Isham led the Bartow offense with four hits including a pair of home runs. Blaine Groce contributed a pair of hits while Gunner Pullen, Huck Garlin, and Cade McCorkle added one hit each.
The win advances Bartow County (2-1) to the championship round Tuesday night in a rematch against Cartersville Little League. Cartersville edged Bartow 4-3 in eight innings Sunday afternoon in both teams' second game.
Cartersville (2-0) enters the finals of the double-elimination tournament needing just one win following a first round win over Rockmart and the earlier win over Bartow.
Bartow County must defeat Cartersville twice Tuesday night to win the tournament. The first game is scheduled for 6 p.m. with a second game to follow if needed.
The District 1 champion advances to the eight-team Georgia Little League State Tournament July 16-21 hosted by Cartersville Little League.
