Bartow wins GRPA District 5 14U title
The Bartow County 14U baseball team won the Georgia Recreation & Park Association District 5 championship Monday night (June 5) at Rollins Park in Dalton.
Bartow won the best-of-three district championship series with two straight wins — 5-2 and 6-1.
In the opener, Connor Corbin went 3-for-4 at the plate and worked five innings on the mound striking out seven.
Kason Miller hit a second inning solo home run to start the Bartow scoring. Zaylen Cochran added a double at the plate and struck out three on the mound in two innings of work.
Dakota Keane (double), Clayton Wilkes (two RBIs), D.J. Vigil, and Nick Robinson (RBI) added one hit each for Bartow in the opening victory.
In the Game 2 win, Chandler Arnold fanned 15 in his six innings on the mound.
Corbin had two hits with one RBI. Cochran had a hit and three RBIs. Kasey Jacobs drove in a pair of runs with one hit and Wilkes also added one hit for Bartow.
With their District 5 title, Bartow 14U advances to the GRPA State Championship Tournament in Effingham County June 20-24.
