Bottom of the order boosts Adairsville in 5-3 win

The Lady Tigers got a big boost from the bottom of their batting order Wednesday night, lifting Adairsville to a 5-3 home win over Haralson County.

Adairsville led 1-0 through three innings and then took a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Haralson County scored three runs in the top of the fifth but got no closer.

Paislee Rooks, Lily Brookshire, Ashlynn Durden, and Lillianne Gunter combined for five of the Tigers’ hits in the victory, batting in the bottom four spots in the order.

Rooks, who also pitched 2-2/3 shutout innings with two strikeouts, had two hits and two RBI. Chloe Hill (4.1 IP, 3ER, 7H, 2BB, 4K), who started and earned the win, had the other Adairsville base hit and two RBI.

The loss dropped the visiting Lady Rebels to 10-11.

Adairsville (15-7, 7-3) returns to Region 7-4A play on Thursday at Calhoun at 5:30 p.m. and will host Cedartown on Monday at 5 p.m.
