Branton fourth at 47th Georgia Senior Amateur Golf Championship

Many of the state’s top senior amateur golfers aged 55 and over competed Monday through Wednesday at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw for the 47th Georgia State Golf Association Senior Amateur Championship.


Jack Larkin of Atlanta carded rounds of 70-66-72 (8-under) on the 6,600-yard, par-72 course to win the 2025 title. He finished three shots ahead of Bob Royak of Alpharetta and five shots better than third-place Danny Nelson of Savannah.


Chad Branton of Cartersville finished at 1-under par (71-70-74) and tied with Doug Hanzel of Savannah for fourth place.


Other local competitors included Scott Davenport of Marietta and Cartersville Country Club, who tied for 33rd. Charles Wilson of Cartersville was 55th, and Kevin Deems of Taylorsville finished 58th.


Craig Stewart of Adairsville and Larry Clark of Kingston participated in the Championship, but failed to make the 36-hole cut following Tuesday's round.
