Bruins complete series sweep of Adairsville; Woodland wraps up season with a road win

Northwest Whitfield scored seven runs across the second and third innings Friday evening en route to an 8-2 Region 7-AAA win over Adairsville. The victory completed a three-game series sweep for the Bruins.


Adairsville scored two runs in the top of the seventh, but the Tigers’ comeback efforts ended there.


Kaden Coker (1.1 IP, 3ER, 2H, 1BB, 1K) made the pitching start for the Tigers and was the pitcher of record. Brody Varner (0.2 IP, 4ER, 2H, 4BB, 1K), David Sutton (3 IP, 1ER, 4H, 2BB, 2K), and Hunter Dudley (1 IP, 0R, 1H, 1K) pitched in relief for Adairsville. 


McCayden Hufstetler had two hits for the Tigers. Braden Slocumb (RBI), Matthew Cook (RBI), and Tyler Parker each added one hit.


Northwest Whitfield improved to 16-14 overall and finished 11-7 in region play.


Adairsville (18-11, 10-8) will begin the Class AAA state playoffs next Friday. The Tigers’ site and opponent will be determined this weekend by the final GHSA Postseason Rankings. Adairsville entered Friday’s game as the No. 16 team. Northwest Whitfield was ranked No. 20. 



WOODLAND 5, OSBORNE 2


The Woodland Wildcats concluded their 2026 baseball season Friday with a 5-2 non-region win at Osborne.


The host Cardinals led 2-1 through the first six innings, but a four-run top of the seventh lifted Woodland to a season-closing victory.


Logan Smith (3 IP, 2ER, 5H, 2BB, 3K) made the pitching start for the Wildcats. Alfredo Romo (4 IP, 0ER, 2H, 1BB, 3K) tossed four shutout innings to collect the pitching win.


Jacob Tatum led the Woodland offense with three hits, including one home run, one double, and four RBI. Tommy Risner (RBI), Clayton Wilkes, and Romo each added one hit.


Osborne dropped to 9-22 on the season. Woodland completed the year with a 14-16 record.
