Kaiden Coker retired seven straight batters in relief -- six by strikeout -- but the Tigers failed to rally in a 6-3 loss at Northwest Whitfield on Wednesday.

The Adairsville Tigers led 2-0 early, but host Northwest Whitfield scored three runs in the bottom of the second and another three in the fourth to win 6-3 and knot the three-game region series at one game apiece.


McCayden Hufstetler made the pitching start and was tagged with the loss for the Tigers. He allowed six earned runs on seven hits and five walks in 3-⅔ innings. He struck out three. Kaiden Coker closed out the final seven outs without allowing a run or hit. He fanned six of seven batters faced.


Brody Varner had two hits for Adairsville. Jack Nelson (RBI), Ethan Long, Peyton Bowen (double), Braxton Ryan, and Isaac Burnett added one hit. Jarrett Scott drove in one run.


The Bruins improved to 17-12 overall and 13-4 in Region 7-AAA.


Adairsville slipped to 16-8 overall and 11-6 in region action.


The two teams will finish the series on Friday with a rubber game at Adairsville at 5:30 p.m.
