Canes 4th, Colonels 8th in final cumulative football rankings

The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes are fourth and the Cass Colonels tied for eighth in the final Georgia High School Football Daily cumulative rankings.

The two local schools were two of five teams from Region 7-5A to be ranked in the top 12 of the 5A classification.

Coffee (15-0), who eliminated Cass and Cartersville (13-1), won the state championship over Creekside (13-2). The Trojans and Seminoles took the top two spots. Jefferson (13-1), a loser to Creekside in the semifinals, was ranked third.

Ware County (8-4) and Warner Robins (9-3) tied for fifth. Hiram (9-3), a member of Region 7-5A was ranked seventh. Region foes Cass (7-6) and Dalton (8-4) tied for eighth followed by Harris County (11-2), Calhoun (8-4), and Kell (9-2).

The six polls in the cumulative rankings are The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Georgia Public Broadcasting, Score Atlanta, 680 The Fan, Maxwell Ratings, and MaxPreps.
