Canes 4th, Lady Canes 7th at Wire2Wire XC Invitational

The Cartersville boys placed fourth and the Lady Canes finished seventh on Saturday as the Cartersville cross country teams hosted the Wire2Wire XC Invitational at Dellinger Park.
Chattahoochee won the boys team title, finishing ahead of St. Pius and Chamblee. The Cartersville boys tied Kennesaw Mountain for fourth place. Woodland placed tenth, and Adairsville was fifteenth in the team standings.
Eli Floyd of Wesleyan won the individual title in 16:23.
The top five performers for Cartersville included Carson Robinson (7th, 16:54), Ethan Empie (17th, 17:23), Ben Russell (35th, 18:10), Tripp Chitwood (39th, 18:16), and Malachi Weir (41st, 18:18).
Woodland was led by Jonathan Ringwell (12th, 17:07), Connor Cruz (46th, 18:29), Charlie Hennington (52nd, 18:34), Logan Marr (64th, 18:53), and Anderson Bridges (86th, 19:51).
Adairsville’s top five included Aaron Souders (79th, 19:30), Canyon East (97th, 21:13), Luke Farmer (99th, 21:17), Victor Singer (109th, 23:40), and Charlie Potter (111th, 24:10).
Westminster won the girls’ team title, followed by Wesleyan and Chamblee. Westminster’s Caroline deButts won the individual title in 19:05.
The top five runners for Cartersville were Sofia Burns (14th, 20:35), Zoe McCurry (30th, 21:13), Samantha Stepp (36th, 21:31), Sydney Burris (39th, 21:34), and Adalin Empie (46th, 22:12).
Allison Snead (18th, 20:51) led the Woodland girls to a tenth-place finish. She was followed by Lady Cats’ teammates Rylee Maxwell (47th, 22:12), Addison Brown (52nd, 22:26), Jette Julius (82nd, 24:44), and Lily Hiott (87th, 25:55).
Adairsville did not field enough runners for a team score, but did have two individual runners. Bella Smith was 54th in 22:28, and Fernanda Singer was 86th in 25:29.
Next for Adairsville is the Wildwood Run on Wednesday in Dalton. Cartersville and Cass will participate in the Atlanta Track Club’s Wingfoot XC Classic at Sam Smith Park in Cartersville on Saturday, and Woodland will run next at Darlington on Saturday, September 27.
