Canes blast Raiders

The Purple Hurricanes needed only two offensive frames Tuesday night at Richard Bell Field to defeat the visiting Southeast Whitfield Raiders 18-1 in three innings.
Cartersville scored six runs in the first and a dozen in the second inning for the Region 7-AAAA victory.
Nate Russell pitched the first two scoreless innings for the Canes and struck out five. Brayden Channell pitched the final inning and yielded one run on one hit with one strikeout.
Parker Lively (home run, six RBI) and Cole Crawford (two doubles, two RBI) had three hits for the Hurricanes. Cooper Reynolds (double) produced two hits. David Vargas (RBI), Nolan Elrod (two RBI), Clint Hosea (double, two RBI), Asa Mitcham (double, two RBI), and Cooper Adams (double) each had one hit. James Manring contributed one RBI.
Southeast Whitfield (2-23, 1-15) will host Cartersville (18-7, 16-0) for a doubleheader on Friday.
