The Cartersville boys golf team tied for fifth place at the 49th annual Larry Gaither High School Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Bull Creek Golf Club, but it was junior Bodie Brumlow who stole the show by winning medalist honors.
Brumlow fired a scorching 10-under par total over the 36-hole event on the par-72, 6,655-yard layout to claim the individual championship by a commanding eight shots over Brooks Adams of Marist. Sim Knox and Sam Sillitto of Brookstone tied for third place with 1-under par totals.
Rivers Academy captured the team title with a 7-over par total. Newnan finished second at 9-over, followed by Brookstone (16-over), Blessed Trinity (18-over), Marist (24-over), and Cartersville (also 24-over) to tie for fifth in the 18-team field.
Carsen Stanfield led the rest of the Canes’ scoring with rounds of 76-71, good for a tie for 14th place overall. Other Cartersville scores included Reid Henson (79-80), James Buessing (80-80), and Ramsey Dunn (81-81).
The Hurricanes will now turn their attention to the Allatoona Spring Breakout on April 13 at The Governors Golf Club in Acworth.
