Canes defeat Woodland; Colonels complete sweep of Dalton; Tigers top Panthers

Cartersville built a 7-0 lead early and won at Woodland on Thursday, 11-1.
Canes pitcher, Sawyer Wilson, scattered five hits and three walks in six shutout innings for the Hurricanes. He picked up the win and struck out four. Nate Russell allowed one unearned run in the seventh inning and had one strikeout.
Zach Lambert (3.1 IP, 7ER, 8H, 4BB, 2K) suffered the pitching loss for the Wildcats. Lucas Baker (3.2 IP, 4R, 2ER, 3H, 2BB, 2K) also pitched for Woodland.
Aidan Larkin led the Canes' 11-hit attack with two hits including a home run and three RBIs. Cameron Cochran (double, RBI) and Tristan McKibben (RBI) also had two hits. Turner Abernathy (two RBIs), Cole Crawford, Landon Cole (RBI), Andrew Purdy, and Luke Miller added one hit. Caleb Daniel drove in a first-inning run with a sacrifice fly.
Jake Clowers had two hits for Woodland. Connor Stermer, Mason Williams, Logan Bentley, and Brett Good added one hit.
The Wildcats (9-6, 2-3) play at Cartersville (13-3, 5-0) on Friday at 5:55 p.m.
CASS 7, DALTON 2
The Colonels completed a three-game series sweep of the Dalton Catamounts on Thursday at home, 7-2.
Cass led 4-1 after two innings and 7-2 following Hunter Lovett’s three-run home run in the fourth.
Cayden Roberts started on the bump for the Colonels and picked up the win with a 4-⅓ inning performance. He allowed two earned runs on five hits and five walks while striking out four. Jacob Johnson entered in the fifth inning and worked 1-⅔ scoreless innings. Johnson yielded one hit and two walks with one strikeout. Justin Peace retired all three batters he faced in a scoreless seventh inning.
Connor Jenkins had two hits for Cass. Jesiel Moctezuma (sac fly, RBI), Nic Wright (two RBIs), and Devan Hutchinson added one hit.
The loss dropped Dalton to 5-10 for the year and 1-5 in Region 7-5A.
Cass (11-6, 3-0) begins a three-game region series with Calhoun on Tuesday at home at 5:55 p.m.
ADAIRSVILLE 7, RIDGELAND 5
Jarrett Scott had three hits including a double, a homer, and two RBIs to help lead the Adairsville Tigers to a 7-5 win Thursday night at Ridgeland. Four other Tigers had one hit each.
Kaiden Coker (3 IP, 2ER, 2H, 3BB, 2K) made the pitching start for Adairsville and was credited with the win. McCayden Hufstetler (2.1 IP, 3ER, 3H, 2BB, 1K) and Ryan Farr (1.2 IP, 0R, 3H, 0BB, 1K) pitched in relief.
Jack Nelson (double, two RBIs), Harrison Cole (RBI), Farr, and Landon O’Neal contributed one hit for the Tigers.
The loss dropped Ridgeland to 9-3 overall and 0-2 in region play.
Adairsville (9-3, 2-0) hosts Gordon Lee on Friday at 5:55 p.m.
