Canes narrowly fall to Bruins; Tigers drop two


Cartersville volleyball lost a tough back-and-forth battle with visiting Northwest Whitfield Thursday night in three sets. Cartersville took the first set of the non-region tilt 28-26, but lost the final two sets 25-23 and 15-10. Macey Vaughn had 28 assists and a pair of kills for Cartersville. London Moultrie finished with 16 kills and four digs. Layne Condra totaled 12 digs and two assists while Mia Nicklas added 15 kills, 15 digs, and an ace.

The Bruins improved their season mark to 16-7 with the narrow victory. Cartersville (13-9) travels to Pickens next Tuesday night. TIGERS DROP TWO

Adairsville won the middle set with Hiram Thursday night at home but lost the match in three sets, 25-19, 18-25, and 15-10. The Tigers also dropped a hard-fought match with Dade County, 25-23 and 27-25. Against Hiram, Autumn Henderson finished with four blocks, three kills, and a dig. Bailey Weaver had six digs, one kill, and one ace. Kaylee Jordan totaled four kills and three digs while Aaliyah Applin added eight digs. In the match with Dade, Lexie Childers finished with eight digs, two aces, and one kill. Richlyn Blair contributed seven kills and four digs. Jordan had five digs along with three aces and three kills. Hannah Hollingworth had three kills and a block while Grace Collins added three aces. Adairsville (11-15) plays at Murray County and will face Gordon Central next Thursday.
