Canes' rifles host Area 10 competition

The Cartersville High School rifle team hosted all six Area 10 teams Saturday at the Storm Center and had two competitors finish in the top five.

Angelina Christ and Lucy Evans of Cartersville placed second and fifth, respectively, out of 30 Area 10 competitors.

In the Canes’ head-to-head match with top-ranked Cherokee, Cartersville dropped an 1114-1098 decision.

Christ led Cartersville with a top score of 283. Evans fired a 281. Caleb Adams, Kaleb Wolfe, and Luis Rangel rounded out the Canes’ effort with scores of 273, 261, and 255.

Cartersville, now 3-5 on the season, slips to fourth place in Area 10. The Hurricanes travel to Allatoona for a match with the Buccaneers on Thursday.
