Canes' soccer falls in opening game

The Cartersville boys' soccer team came up short in its season and home opener Monday night to Chapel Hill, 2-1.
The Panthers took an early 2-0 lead midway through the first half before the Hurricanes were able to cut that lead in half.
Dawson Gulasa scored for Cartersville at the near post off a corner kick from Edgar Abeja.
The Canes' offense threatened heavily in the first twenty minutes of the second half but was unable to find a way past the Chapel Hill keeper.
The final twenty minutes became more open for both teams but neither team scored enabling the Panthers (1-1) to hold on for the victory. Cartersville (0-1) returns to the pitch Wednesday night with a trip to Douglas County.
