Canes split tourney games Saturday


Kiley Arnold was the winning pitcher Saturday as Cartersville defeated Campbell 13-5.

Cartersville split a pair of tournament games played Saturday at East Paulding High School as part of the annual Allatoona Bucs Bash. The Lady Canes defeated Campbell 13-5 but lost to the host Raiders 4-0.


CARTERSVILLE 13, CAMPBELL 5

Cartersville utilized a eight-run fourth inning to break open a tied game Saturday for a 13-5 victory in four innings.

Kiley Arnold (4 IP, 5ER, 7H, 0BB, 3K) picked up the pitching win by working all four innings in the circle.

AnnaKate McElhaney and Ava Perkins led the Canes at the plate with three hits each. McElhaney’s three hits included a double and four RBIs. Perkins had a double and a triple among her three safeties and two RBIs.

Mattie Johnson contributed two hits including a double and one RBI. Amelia Elrod had a hit and one RBI. Campbell Rogers added a hit and Mikey Lewis drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.


EAST PAULDING 4, CARTERSVILLE 0

East Paulding pitcher Kyra Lightner limited the Lady Canes’ bats to only three hits and a walk as the Raiders blanked Cartersville Saturday, 4-0.

McKinley Chada (6 IP, 4R, 3ER, 7H, 3BB, 2K) pitched well for Cartersville also allowing only three earned runs in a complete game performance.

AnnaKate McElhaney had two hits for the Lady Canes. Ava Perkins added the other Cartersville base hit.

The Hurricanes (3-11) play at Region 7-AAAAA doubleheader at Woodland Tuesday starting at 5 p.m.
