Canes state runner-up at 2025 Class AAAA GHSA Track & Field Championship

For the first time in school history, the Cartersville Purple Hurricanes boys’ track and field team claimed a state runner-up finish at the GHSA Class 4A Championships at East Jackson High School in Commerce.
The Starrs Mill boys won the Class AAAA title with 42 team points. Cartersville and Benedictine Military School were next with 40. Marist was fourth with 33, and Eagles Landing and Mays were next with 30 points.
The top eight placers in each state championship event final earned team points. First place in each event was worth 10 points, second place received 8, and third place received 6. Fourth place through eighth place received five points down to 1 point.
The Cass boys and Cartersville girls finished 28th in Class AAAA. The Cass girls were 34th.
