Cartersville 12U beats Bartow twice to win district; Adairsville 8U tops Cartersville Purple

The Cartersville Gold 12U baseball team defeated Bartow County 12U twice Tuesday night at Rollins Park in Dalton to win the 2022 GRPA District 5 title.
Cartersville, who had lost to Bartow earlier in the double-elimination tournament, won 14-13 and 17-9 to capture the championship.
Darren Cole led the Cartersville offense in the doubleheader with six hits including three doubles and three RBIs. Andy Holstein followed with five hits including one double with four RBIs. Luke Thomson finished the two games with four hits including a pair of doubles and seven RBIs. Steven Tumlin had three hits and three RBIs. Caiden Cline also contributed three hits with two RBIs. Easton Lee totaled two hits including one triple and two RBIs. Corbin Mullinax also had two hits with one RBI. Asher Sito (RBI) and Joel Rensch added one hit apiece. Thomson, Tumlin, Holstein, Mullinax, Lee, and Cline all pitched in the two Cartersville victories.
Alfredo Romo completed the doubleheader with four hits and five RBIs. Dawson Warner also totaled four hits with three RBIs. Lucas Andrews had three hits and one RBI. Bryson Weaver (RBI), Jace Radford, and Mason Dobbs contributed two hits each. Landon Farmer had one double. Joseph Kirby (RBI) and Easton Hamilton (two RBIs) tossed in one hit each for Bartow County.
Farmer, Logan Smith, Andrews, Romo, Radford, and Weaver all pitched for Bartow.
8U ADAIRSVILLE TOPS CARTERSVILLE PURPLE TO REACH DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND
The Adairsville 8U baseball team defeated Cartersville Purple 8U 14-3 Tuesday night to advance to the GRPA District 5 championship round.
Adairsville reaches the double-elimination tournament finals without a loss. They will play the winner of Cartersville Purple and Calhoun on Thursday night at Westside Park in Whitfield County.
The Adairsville offense was led by Brody Morrow with one double and two triples. Cash Miller and Cooper Adcock also finished with three hits. One of Adcock’s safeties was a triple. Cole Baker, Jake Nida, Sam Williams, Hank Earwood, and Landry Elrod finished with two hits each. Camden Forsyth and Ethan Massey added one hit apiece for Adairsville.
Gray Womack led Cartersville with three hits. Hollis Nelson followed with two hits. Will Gelhauser, Nolan Murphy, Evan Blakenberger, and Carson R added one hit each.
BARTOW 8U SOFTBALL ADVANCES TO DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP
The Bartow County 8U coach pitch softball team defeated Calhoun Tuesday night 24-13 at Whitfield County’s Westside Park to qualify for the GRPA District 5 championship round. Bartow 8U reaches the championship round with no losses in the double-elimination tournament. Bartow will face Calhoun again Thursday night with Calhoun needing two wins. Bartow needs just one win to capture the district title.
Calhoun defeated Murray County in an elimination game Wednesday night to earn the rematch with Bartow.
