Cartersville, Adairsville girls collect non-region wins
The Cartersville girls soccer team scored four times in the first half Thursday night on their way to a 4-0 win at South Paulding.
Abbey Craig scored a goal and had one assist to lead the Lady Canes.
Hattie Williams put Cartersville on the scoreboard first with a goal off an assist from Jocelen Fernandez. Ansley Holton and Maci Nicklaus had the other two Lady Canes’ goals.
Trista Kelly earned the shutout as goalkeeper.
The Lady Canes, who have finished as the No. 3-seed from Region 7-AAAAA, improved to 7-5-1 on the season.
Cartersville will return to action Tuesday, April 13 at home against Allatoona.
ADAIRSVILLE GIRLS 7, CEDARTOWN 2
The Lady Tigers built a 4-1 lead in the first half and cruised to a 7-2 victory over Class AAAA Cedartown Thursday night in Tiger Valley.
Cat Wheeler scored two goals and had two assists. Megan Hardin also scored twice for the Lady Tigers.
Maddie Gossett and Taylor Rhoades both had a goal and one assist. Lillie McBride scored the other Adairsville goal.
The Lady Tigers improved to 13-1 on the season and will try to keep their unbeaten Region 6-AAA mark alive when they return to the pitch April 13 at home against Sonoraville.
ROME 3, CARTERSVILLE BOYS 1
The Canes played much of the game down a man and lost to Class 6A 4th-ranked Rome Thursday night, 3-1.
The visiting Wolves improved to 15-1 with their victory. Cartersville (7-4-1, 2-3 Region 7-AAAAA) has finished as the No. 2-seed in the region and will wrap up the regular season April 13 and 15 with non-region home games against Allatoona and Sandy Creek.
