Cartersville, Adairsville net volleyball wins

Cartersville volleyball defeated visiting Cass Tuesday night 25-7 and 25-12 in two straight sets.


Tennessee Abernathy had four kills and four assists for Cartersville. Addison Marisko also added four kills. Ailee England finished with three kills and two blocks. Aubree Barrett contributed five assists and three aces. Aly Dunn and Riley Jarrett totaled three aces each while Mckenzie Wilkie added 12 digs.


Cass falls to 4-25-1 overall and 1-4 in region play.


Cartersville (23-13, 3-1), ranked 8th in Class 5A, hosts Villa Rica and Darlington Thursday night.


ADAIRSVILLE SPLITS REGION MATCHES


The Lady Tigers defeated Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe 25-17, 25-20 Tuesday night at home but lost to Coahulla Creek 27-25, 25-16 in region play.


In the loss to Coahulla Creek, Adysen Garvey and Jordan Hartline finished with four kills and one block each. Cara Harp had three aces and one assist. Jayna Wilson contributed three blocks and Sherry Wells added 15 digs.


In the win over LFO, Hartline had a game-high five kills followed by four kills by Garvey. Addie Pearson had three kills and nine digs and Jenna Claire Hendley also had three kills. Harp served three aces and Jayna Wilson totaled eight digs.


Adairsville (9-20, 2-3) plays a non-region match at Cass on Thursday.


WOODLAND FALLS TO 6TH RANKED DALTON


The Lady Cats lost 25-15 and 25-13 at home Tuesday night to the 6th-ranked Dalton Catamounts.


Woodland (11-21, 2-3) plays non-region matches at Southeast Whitfield Thursday where the Lady Cats will also face off with Ringgold.
