Cartersville, Bartow County 8-10 year old Little League teams earn first round wins


The Georgia Little League Baseball District 1 8-10 year old tournament got underway Monday night at Hamilton Crossing Park with two local teams picking up first round wins.


Cartersville defeated Rockmart 9-6 and Bartow County topped Cedartown 11-1.


In Cartersville’s victory, Jack Mroczko led the offense with a pair of hits. Anthony Hunt, Brock Morris, Jack McCurry, Cade Rogan, and Jack Thompson added one hit apiece.


Bartow was paced by Declan Parker and Jaxon Durham with three hits each. Jackson Watts followed with two hits. Parker Rampley, Knox Janssen, Brantley Collum, and Easton Miller added one hit for Bartow County.


Cartersville and Bartow square off Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at Hamilton Crossing Park with the winner advancing to the district championship round Thursday. The loser must play an elimination game Wednesday against the Rockmart/Cedartown survivor.


Rockmart and Cedartown play an elimination game Tuesday night at 8 p.m.
