Cartersville boys win Fast Break Challenge; Lady Canes fourth
The Cartersville boys cross country team won the Fast Break Challenge Tuesday in Ringgold while the Cartersville girls placed fourth.
The event was hosted by Heritage High School and included 19 teams.
The Cartersville boys scored 50 points and finished 26 points ahead of runner-up, Dalton.
Levi Booth, Sam Peters, and Malachi Vosburgh placed third through fifth individually for the Hurricanes. Cainen Crowder was eighth.
Paul Hyman (32nd) and Barrett Stepp (33rd) rounded out the field of Cartersville runners.
Adairsville, who placed 18th as a team, was led by Griffin Bozeman (34th). Brayden Miller (86th), Jace Silvers (126th), Chris Pelchat (134th) and Cody Teer (149th) were the Tigers other finishers.
In the girls race, the Lady Canes placed fourth behind Walker Valley (Tennessee), runner-up Dalton, and Southeast Whitfield.
McKinsey Spinks led Cartersville with a 10th place finish. Kaylana Pennington-Brooke (19th), Meredith Gaines (23rd), Trinity Atkins (24th), and Samantha Herrera (36th) rounded out the Lady Canes' scorers.
Callie Viktora (56th) was the lone Adairsville competitor.
