Cartersville Country Club golfers qualify for USGA Mid-Amateur

Two Cartersville Country Club golfers have qualified for the 2026 USGA Mid-Amateur Championship to be held September 26 - October 1 at Sand Valley Resort in Nekoosa, Wisconsin.

Lee Bowman of Atlanta earned one of three qualifying spots in a field of 75 players on August 13 at Saugahatchee Country Club in Opelika, Alabama. Bowman shot 68.  R.B. Clyburn of Cartersville also shot 68 to earn a 1st alternate spot on August 3 at Lochland Country Club in Hastings, Nebraska. The Lochland field included 62 players for only two spots.

Over 6,100 entries attempted to qualify at 69 sites nationwide between July 27 and September 9.

The Championship will include 264 players, age 25 and over, and will include two rounds of stroke play on September 26-27. The top 64 players will advance to match play, held September 28-October 1.
