Cartersville cross country takes on state meet course


The Cartersville High School cross country teams competed Saturday at the Carrollton Orthopaedic Invitational hosted by Carrollton High School on the GHSA State Meet Course.

The Cartersville girls ran to a 12th place finish of 32 teams and the Cartersville boys finished 15th of 36 teams in the Large School Division. McIntosh won the girls Large School Division with Decatur winning the boys Large School Division. The girls Championship Division race was won by Marist with Decatur also capturing the boys championship division.

The best individual times of the day were recorded in the two championship division races. Ethan Ashley of Denmark High School had the best time Saturday covering the 5k course in 15:55.48. Caroline Hood of Pace Academy won the girls individual title in 19:03.03.

There were 216 runners in the girls Large School Division race and 245 runners in the boys race.
