Cartersville gymnastics hosts first home meet


The Cartersville High School gymnastics team hosted their first home meet at the Cartersville Twisters facility this past Saturday. There were two schools in the Class 5A and lower division with a dozen competitors at the meet.

North Oconee won the division with 104.75 points. Cartersville finished with a score of 96.3. Karley Garrison placed second in All Around with a 33.9 score. She was third in beam, floor, and fault with scores of 8.4, 8.6, and 8.5.

Jayla Byrd was third in All Around with a 32.3. She tied with Garrison on floor with an 8.6. Annaston Wilson placed fourth All Around with a 30.1. She improved her bar event score by almost one full point. The Canes will complete the regular season on Tuesday, April 12 at The Lovett School at 5 p.m.
