Cartersville leads local schools with 7th place finish in 2021-22 GADA Directors Cup final standings

With the conclusion of the Georgia High School Association’s state baseball playoffs this week, the Georgia Athletic Directors’ Association has released the final standings for the 2021-22 GADA Directors’ Cup.
The Directors’ Cup is awarded to the schools in each classification earning the most state playoffs points excelling and showing superior performance in 26 GHSA sports. Each school’s top eight scoring points in each gender are counted toward the award.

Cartersville, who won back-to-back Class 2A Directors' Cup titles 2000-01 and 2001-02, earned points in eight boys sports and six girls sports in 2021-22. With the Canes' boys programs actually reaching the state playoffs in nine sports, only the top eight points in that gender counted.
The Purple Hurricanes received 90 points for their state runner-up finish in baseball and 85 in boys golf. Competition cheerleading followed with 80 points. Wrestling collected 66 points, boys cross country scored 54, while volleyball, football, and boys soccer added 53 points each. Girls cross country earned 38, boys track and field 34, with girls soccer, girls tennis, boys tennis, and boys basketball adding 25 points apiece. Girls track and field was credited with one point.
Woodland scored Directors’ Cup points in five girls sports and four for boys.
The Wildcats earned 90 points in wrestling for a state runner-up finish, 83 in fast pitch softball, 75 in girls cross country, 63 for boys cross country, and 48 for coed competition cheerleading. Woodland baseball, girls soccer, and volleyball earned 25 points each while boys track and field received 24 points.
Cass had four girls sports and three boys teams to earn Directors’ Cup points.
The Colonels’ wrestling team won state for 100 points while competition cheerleading earned 60 points. Football, boys soccer, girls basketball, girls tennis, and fast pitch softball each received 25 points.
Adairsville earned points in five boys sports and three girls sports in 2021-22.
The Tigers collected 83 points in wrestling, 69 in competition cheerleading, and 54 points in boys swimming. Girls tennis, volleyball, football, and boys basketball each earned 25 points with boys track and field adding 14 points.
