Cartersville Little League 12U baseball lost 2-1 to Smyrna on Sunday, ending their run at the Georgia Little League state tournament in Bogart. It marked a second straight one-run loss for Cartersville, who also fell 5-4 in extra innings on Saturday to Franklin County.
Smyrna scored single runs in the first two innings to lead 2-0. Cartersville scored in the top of the fourth on an RBI single by Sam Evans, but couldn't close the gap.
Parker Candela led the team with two hits. Jaxon Tardy and Nolan Murphy also contributed with singles.
Tardy (4.1 IP, 2R, 1ER, 3H, 3BB, 4K) and Gray Womack (0.2 IP, 0R, 0H) pitched for Cartersville.
