Cartersville Little League 12U falls to Harris County

The Cartersville Little League 12U baseball team suffered its first loss of the 2023 State Tournament Tuesday night in Cobb County at the hands of Harris County Little League, 11-1.


Harris County built a 4-0 lead before Cartersville scored its only run of the night in the bottom of the fourth.


Harris County then added four runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth on the way to a 10-run decision.


Cartersville managed only two hits — one each by Tyler Hickman and Jackson Crawford. Parker Huth drove in the lone Cartersville run.


Brock Crawford (4 IP, 4R, 1ER, 2H, 4BB, 4K) was tagged with the pitching loss. Braxton Lemon (0.2 IP, 4ER, 2H, 1BB), William Groce (0.1 IP, 0R, 2H, 1K), and B H (1 IP, 3ER, 1H, 2BB, 1K) also pitched for Cartersville.


Cartersville, now 2-1 in the double-elimination tournament, will face the Warner Robins/Smyrna winner (played late Tuesday) Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in an elimination game.


Harris County, now 3-0, advances to the championship round needing just one more win to take the state title.
