Cartersville Little League 13U Intermediate captures District 1 crown

The Cartersville Little League Baseball 13U Intermediate team won a best-of-three series with Rockmart Intermediate this past Monday through Wednesday to win the Georgia District 1 championship and advance to the state tournament.


Cartersville 13U won 18-9 on Monday, lost 8-5 on Tuesday, but won the decisive third game of the series 7-3 on Wednesday.


Grayson Dean led the Cartersville 13U bats in the series with seven hits that included three home runs, one double, one sacrifice fly, and eight RBI.  Gavin Ham (home run, double, three RBI), Tate Warlick (double, three RBI), and Carter Harris (two RBI) each produced four hits. Emory Harris (two RBI) and Jimmy Fair contributed two hits. Sa’vion Hamilton (home run, two RBI), Jack Turner (two RBI), Link Crump (RBI), and Aiden Solomon added one hit. Jordan Cooley drove in three runs.


Turner pitched seven innings in the series and recorded seven strikeouts. Ham had seven strikeouts in 4-1/3 innings on the mound. Warlick fanned six in four innings of work. Dean struck out nine in 3-1/3 innings, and Solomon had four strikeouts in 1-2/3 innings. Turner, Warlick, Solomon, and Hamilton each had one scoreless appearance in the series.


With their victory, Cartersville Little League 13U Intermediate advanced to the Georgia Little League State Tournament that begins July 10 in Peachtree City.


The Cartersville Little League 13U team includes: Jordan Cooley, Link Crump, Grayson Dean, Jimmy Fair, Gavin Ham, Sa’vion Hamilton, Carter Harris, Emory Harris, Aiden Solomon, Jack Turner, and Tate Warlick. Manager: Wes Crump. Coaches: Adam Turner, Ryan Dean, and Bryan Warlick.



CARTERSVILLE 12U BASEBALL FALLS AT GRPA STATE TOURNEY


The 12U baseball team representing the Cartersville Recreation Department at the GRPA State Tournament in Statesboro dropped two straight games on Tuesday and Wednesday at the double-elimination event.


Cartersville, the District 5 champions, lost to Moultrie-Colquitt County 8-2 on Tuesday night and then fell 6-3 to host Bulloch County on Wednesday morning.


Tyson Botts and Hudson Summey each produced three hits for Cartersville 12U in the tournament. Henry Baxter (RBI) contributed two hits. Raden Sullins (home run, three RBI), Parson Adams (double, RBI), Cale Effler, Brennan Simmer, and Noah Taylor each added one hit.
