Cartersville soccer teams defeat Cedartown
The Cartersville girls and boys soccer teams won season opening games at Cedartown Tuesday. The Lady Canes rolled to a 7-3 victory and the Hurricanes won 3-1. Senior Kendyl Anderson had a goal and three assists for the Cartersville girls. Freshman Maci Nicklas scored two goals. The Cartersville boys trailed early on a penalty kick in the first five minutes, but the Canes responded with three, unanswered goals. Giovanni Jacobo scored in the game’s seventh minute off an assist from Joel Zazueta. One minute later, Alex Rios scored on a fast break feed from John Robinson.
Cartersville’s third goal came in the third minute of the second half. Kaden Anderson found the back of the net from the top of the 18-yard box with an assist going to Jacobo.
Lady Canes (1-0) play at Dalton next Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The Cartersville boys (1-0) host Chestatee Friday at 8 p.m.
