Cartersville softball blanked by LaFayette


Cartersville softball lost a 12-0 decision Wednesday night to visiting LaFayette in six innings.


The Ramblers grabbed a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning and added single runs in the third and fifth innings, but it was a seven-run sixth inning that ended the game early.


LaFayette outhit Cartersville eight to three, but the Lady Canes also committed six defensive errors leading to seven unearned runs.


Catcher Jordan Bishop had two hits for the Hurricanes and outfielder Elizabeth Nelson collected the other base hit.


Pitcher Ava Perkins (2.1 IP, 4ER, 2H, 8BB, 1K) started in the circle and was tagged with the loss. McKinley Chada (3.2 IP, 8R, 1ER, 6H, 2BB, 1K) pitched in relief.


LaFayette improved to 5-2-1 with the victory.


Cartersville (2-4-1, 1-0) plays at Dalton Thursday in a Region 7-5A matchup.
