Cartersville tops Sequoyah and Harrison for volleyball wins

The Cartersville Lady Canes volleyball team won a pair of home matches in the Storm Center on Tuesday night defeating Sequoyah and Harrison.


In the opening match with Sequoyah, the Canes won the first set 25-21, dropped the middle set 20-25, but rallied to take the match with a 15-11 win in the third set.


Riley Huff had nine kills and five blocks. Amara Ejieke finished with seven kills and five digs. Holly Dufrene contributed six kills while Addison Marisko added five kills and two blocks on the front line. Adahlyn Womack and Addie Rickman produced three and two blocks, respectively. 


Aubree Barrett

Riley Jarrett and Emma Wall had two aces each. Jarrett added six digs and Wall added 10 assists. McKenzie Wilkie led the Hurricanes with 12 digs and Aubree Barrett distributed 17 assists.


Cartersville started slowly and trailed most of the opening set with Harrison before rallying to win 26-24. The Canes followed with a 25-20 win in set two to take the match with the Hoyas.


Ejieke paced the Canes' front line with nine kills and two blocks. Marisko, Dufrene, and Huff had six kills and two blocks each. Sydney McNair-Seigler contributed eight digs and Wilkie had six digs. Jarrett finished with two aces and four digs. Barrett controlled the offense with 20 assists and Wall added eight assists.


Cartersville (7-4) hosts Villa Rica and North Cobb Christian on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
