Cartersville volleyball begins season with a tournament title

The Cartersville High School volleyball team opened the season with four wins on Friday and Saturday during the Sequoyah Classic in Cherokee County.
The Lady Canes defeated Cherokee (25-11, 25-16), Starr’s Mill (25-16, 25-10), South Forsyth (25-7, 25-12), Harrison (25-14, 25-17), Norcross (25-22, 25-13), River Ridge (25-17, 25-23) and Alpharetta in the finals (18-25, 25-22, and 15-10). Alpharetta is the two-time defending champion in Class 6A.
Cartersville (7-0) will travel to Hillgrove on Tuesday to play the host Hawks and Pope.

LADY TIGERS OPEN VOLLEYBALL SEASON
Adairsville volleyball lost matches Thursday at Allatoona, falling to the host Lady Bucs (25-5, 25-7) and Central-Carroll (25-17, 25-23).
Adairsville (0-2) visits Coosa on Tuesday and will also face Model.
LADY CATS DROP OPENER
Woodland volleyball lost its season-opening match this past Thursday at Chattooga in straight sets.
Woodland (0-1) hosts Pickens County on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Actually Cartersville Volleyball played 7 games (2 games Friday and 5 games on Saturday). They went 7-0 beating Cherokee High School and Starrs Mill High on Friday night and beat South Forsyth, Norcross High, River Ridge, Harrison and THEN beat Alpharetta High School in the championship game of this tournament on Saturday afternoon in 3 sets. Alpharetta High is a 6-A school and went undefeated last year. Alpharetta High are currently ranked #1 in the State on MaxPreps and ranked 8th in the Nation… and the CANES beat em today!!!!!!!
