Cartersville volleyball captures 17th straight Bartow County title
The Class 5A 8th-ranked Cartersville volleyball team won its 17th straight Bartow County Championship crown Saturday at Woodland winning straight-set matches over all three local opponents.
Ailee England and Holly Dufrene had six kills and five kills, respectively as the Hurricanes opened with a 25-16, 25-7 win over Cass. England added one block and Dufrene had a pair of blocks. Raylynn Bowen finished with four aces. Mckenzie Wilkie had five digs and Aubree Barrett added 13 assists.
In a 25-18, 27-25 victory over Adairsville, Addison Marisko had seven kills. England followed with five kills. Wilkie totaled 11 digs. Bowen finished with 10 assists and Barrett added assists.
Cartersville defeated Woodland 25-9, 25-9 in the finals. England had 10 kills and four aces. Marisko contributed a pair of blocks. Wilkie added eight digs and Barrett distributed 11 assists.
Host Woodland opened with a 25-20, 25-11 loss to Adairsville before earning a pair of three-set wins over Cass (21-25, 25-8, 15-11) and Adairsville (25-20, 21-25, 15-13) to earn a spot in the championship match.
Kendall Condon had 35 assists, 27 digs, seven kills, and three aces on the day. Megan Schultz had nine kills, seven digs, and 10 aces. Anastyn Jones totaled 17 kills, 11 digs, and two aces. Bailee Motes had 14 digs and nine kills. Kiera Pedigo contributed five blocks with two kills. Brooke Kozlowski accumulated six blocks and four kills while Lili Womack was credited with 24 digs and eight aces on the day.
Woodland (8-19) plays Cass (4-21-1) and Hiram on Tuesday at Calhoun High School in region matches.
Cartersville (20-9) visits 6th-ranked Dalton on Tuesday where the Canes will also face East Hamilton (Tenn.).
