Cartersville volleyball opens region play with home wins

Cartersville volleyball picked up two Region 7-4A wins Tuesday night in the Storm Center with victories over Dalton (25-14, 25-17) and Woodland (25-12, 25-11).


Cartersville improved to 15-4 overall and is now 2-0 in region action. The Lady Canes host Walton and Calhoun on Thursday, starting at 5:30 p.m.


Dalton also topped Woodland (1-11, 0-2) with the Catamounts winning 25-6 and 25-11. 


Bella King had one kill and two blocks for Woodland against Dalton. Camilla Ferguson contributed five digs and two assists. 


Against Cartersville, Aby Childs had three digs and two kills for the Lady Cats. Ferguson added two assists and one dig. King finished with one kill and one block.


Woodland returns to action Thursday at Dalton Academy against the hosts and Gordon Central.


Adairsville beat Temple 25-19 and 25-23 on Tuesday, but lost to Chattooga 25-21 and 25-16.

Teaghan Myers had nine aces and six assists for Adairsville against Temple. Ella Steward finished with six kills, and Nadelyn Dodson added eight digs.


Against Chattoga, Steard and Ansley Mims led the Tigers with three kills. Myers produced eleven assists and four digs, while Dodson added eleven digs.


Adairsville (5-11, 1-1) squares off with Pickens and Sonoraville on Thursday in Jasper.


Cass (2-9, 0-1) lost a three-set region match at Hiram on Tuesday. The Lady Colonels travel to Coosa on Thursday, where they will also face Trion.
